I ride from between 400-600 miles per month on combination of paved bike trails, country roads, and unevenly-maintained city streets. Gator Skin Hard Shells typically last 2000-3000 miles for rear wheel installations, and up to 6000 miles for front wheel installations - meaning that I don't have to change tires nearly as often as I have with other brands and styles.
I'm willing to put up with the slight difficulties presented by their installation (I used the wire-bead variety for extra stiffness) for the payoff in extended service life.
