Great economical alternative to much more expensive dropper seat posts. Was a little apprehensive about not buying the handlebar mounted option but it is so easy to use and adjusts quickly on the fly. Very happy with the savings. I ride the heck out of it and it works every time. No slop or play or fluid leaking (yet). Very happy. Can't believe I almost spent $350+ on the Reverb.

If you like boxing up products and shipping them back to the manufacturer for repair, then this post is for you! Treated it as gently as one possibly could (while still using it), and it failed after just a few rides (lost pressure and leaked oil). Sent it back for repair (which they completed promptly), and mid-way through the first ride, it started losing oil and pressure again.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost:

I ride aggressive trail ranging from technical rocky to smooth jumping - this post gets worked a LOT every ride to get my seat out of the way. Bought this b/c it was much cheaper than other similar products and got positive reviews. Craftsmanship is clean and solid. Performs flawlessly for me 97% of the time. There is play where the tube enters the shock, but does not seem to be a problem, and CB addresses it on their site. I find that it sags a bit on longer rides, but only about a .5inch - again CB has addressed it on their site. Overall a great product.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost:

My ride is an 04 Intense Tracer w/ an interupted seat tube. Believe it or not it works! It comes close but, when installing, I let all the air out of the shock and cycled it all the way down then lowered the Joplin as far down as it would go and not touch any rear suspension parts. No issues.I ride on a real mix of rolling hills and until now I had to settle with a fixed seat height. Now I can crank it up for the ride to the trail head, drop it as low as needed for decents. The lever under the seat is no big deal to get use to. It sounds like an un-natural act but it was a breeze to learn to use and was rockin it within a few minutes. I wouldn't want the remote. I feel you gain enough out of the adjustability to make up for any weight gain to your ride. Simply put, this is one of the most important upgrades I have ever bought. Check your current seat post clamp before you order. Mine was the origanal and I should have chucked it. I replaced it with a 35 mm Salsa

Got a chance to use the Fox dropper post on the last Downieville trip and realized it was a great addition to the bike. Bought this one and the wife demanded it on her XC bike too. Nose lever is out of the way and works great. Great value. Had to buy some bling with the extra cash I saved.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost:

I got the free shipping but I was amazed when it arrived within 36 hours. No set up needed. It works fine. I use it to lower the saddle on technical descends or to exercise different muscles. Maybe I will use it more as I get use to reaching for the release on the post. [@] has the remote for [$]. The saddle tilt changed on a few bumps. This may not be a problem for you because I have a long saddle and had it set all the way back. Centering the saddle seems to have solved the problem. I was told that CrankBrothers suggests oiling the clamp and torquing it wet. If your bike does not take a long seat post you may want to check measurements to see if it is dropper friendly. It is a good first dropper. I have no regrets.

      Great Craftmanship and Customer Service

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost:

Craftmanship is really good. Looks good on my bike. First I have the lever version and after a few months it leaked oil and lost some air. I called CB in Laguna Beach, CA and they told me to bring it in and they will fix it ASAP. Excellent customer service. They seem to changed the seal as it looks different from the original seal. Decided to by the remote and they installed it for free. I was in and out of their store in 15 minutes as promised. I would say, Crankbrothers provides great customer service.

Comments about CrankBrothers Crank Brothers Joplin 4 Seatpost:

Have had the Joplin 4 installed on my Salsa Big Mama 4" 29er for a few weeks. Like the simplicity, lightweight, ease of use. The lever works fine on this bike, I generally make seat height changes before expected tech sections, then readjust when easy riding returns. I have the Reverb on my Nomad, with remote, and like that set up for that bike and riding, but the Joplin 4 is great on the xc bike with more limited (usually) tech trails. One episode of post sag, after pulling bike off wall hook, but a few cycles thru the travel retored function.

I like this post alot, I went with the lever model because I didnt want the extra cable running up to my bars to keep it clean looking. But sometimes taking your hand off the bars to drop it sucks but its not a real problem. Buy one, you wont regret it.
