Brand Description
Since 1978, Diamondback has been at the forefront of innovative bicycle design. Diamondback produces bicycles suitable for every rider type. Whether you are an avid road cyclist looking for the newest, lightest frameset on the market, or crushing the downhill trails of Moab, or just looking to cruise the boardwalk, Diamondback has a bike to suit your needs. Diamondback believes that every bike they produce is a reflection of who they are. Therefore, each bike that rolls out of Diamondback’s factory embodies their core values which are precision, durability, and integrity.

Innovative Technology
Diamondback full suspension mountain bikes are known for their Knuckle Box suspension design. The Knuckle Box, or Bell Crank, is Diamondback’s single- pivot four- bar suspension platform. The ideally placed pivots create a low leverage ratio which creates superior pedaling efficiency and small bump compliance. By placing the Knuckle Box low within the frame, the bulk of the weight is closer to the bottom bracket. This lowers the bike’s center of gravity which helps to improve tracking and cornering. The four bar suspension design further increases control over wheel- rate. Wheel rate is the effective spring rate when measured at the wheel. Diamondback worked closely with Fox Shocks to optimize the wheel rate to be linear to slightly progressive. This results in small bump compliance, more perceived travel, and bottom- out protection.

Diamondback Sortie 29er 3.0
The Diamondback Sortie 29er 3.0 demonstrates that you no longer need to sacrifice. If you haven’t made the leap to a 29” bike yet, now is the time. 29” wheels allow you to roll over obstacles more easily than 26” wheels. A larger wheel allows the rider to carry momentum through obstacles. Lastly, the larger diameter wheels are less prone to sinking in the sand and mud, due to lower ground pressure.

The Sortie 29er was inspired by the Sortie 26” platform. Diamondback wanted to retain the essence of the 26” platform with the added benefits of the 29” platform. Diamondback was successful; the 2013 Diamondback Sortie 29er is a lean mean trail- riding machine. The responsive nature of the suspension design allows you to spend half the day riding up the side of the mountain and the other half riding back down.

The Dimaondback Sortie 29 3.0 begins with 6061 T6 Weapons Grade Aluminum with hydroformed top tube, a butted and formed downtube, a seatstay bridge, tapered headtube, and a 142x12mm E-Thru Axle drop out. Every aspect of the frame was built to be strong and durable without breaking the scale. The tapered headtube improves handling abilities and is stronger, which is essential for aggressive riders.   The E- Thru Axle is strong and adds stability and rigidity to the rear end.

The Sortie 29er features Diamondback’s legendary Knuckle Box suspension design. Knuckle Box suspension is a single- pivot four- bar suspension platform. There are many benefits with this suspension design including better small bump compliance and improved tracking and cornering. The Sortie 29er 3.0 runs the Fox Shocks Float with CTD technology and Boost Valve. The Boost Valve provides the feeling of endless travel, like a downhill bike. Fox Shocks CTD (Climb Trail Descend) suspension technology allows you to adjust your shock on the fly to adjust to the terrain you are riding. Zip and zoom through single track without a care in the world. The nimble geometry allows you to clear tight corners, maneuver around ruts, roots, and sticks, without dropping a foot for balance. No matter what mountain bike trail you may find yourself on, the Sortie 29 3.0 will ensure you’re having fun.

Diamondback brought monumental quality and value to the Sortie 29er 3.0. The Sortie 29er 3.0 is outfitted with Fox Shocks suspension and Shimano XT drivetrain components. To start, Diamondback chose the Fox shocks 32 Float with 120mm of travel, tapered steer, and quick release 15mm thru axle. The Fox fork is part of Fox’s 2013 lineup with CTD (climb, trail, descend) technology. CTD technology allows you to adjust the fork numerous times throughout the trail with the flip of a dial, to adjust for changes in the terrain. Shimano XT is built for strength and durability. Shimano XT shifters, crankset, and derailleurs provide smooth seamless shifting between gears. The Shimano XT crankset is lightweight, flex- free, and provides unparalleled power transfer. Shimano XT was designed for everyday riding as well as racing. The Shimano XT brakes offer smooth powerful braking power. To round out the cockpit, Easton EA50 handlebar and stem were chosen. The EA50 bar and stem stay rigid while climb up hills or bombing back down the face of the mountain.

The Dimondback Sortie 29er 3.0 is the complete package. 29” wheel bike with spot on geometry, Knuckle Box suspension technology, Fox suspension, and Shimano XT drivetrain components, there is no compromise made with this bike.
