I think the best bike products are ones that can solve a problem better than others but do it in a simple way. These do.

No grip is sacrificed whatsoever vs the top brand metal pedals. The tall pins and huge width makes them a great contact point between your feet and bike.

The weight savings vs a comparable aluminum pedal is significant and noticeable...around half a pound.

I slightly prefer a concave pedal profile to these, but it took only 5 mins on the first ride with them to get completely comfortable.

I have found these to be very durable, but it could be argued that they cannot possibly be quite as durable. Deity acknowledges this concern by making replacement parts readily available and inexpensive.

Note: it is possible to damage the threads inside the pedal body that the end caps screw into (and hold the pedal tight on the spindle) if you over-tighten too much. I did that once but deity provided awesome customer service. Just go until it is snug then stop, and you won't have this problem.

    Comments about Deity Compound Pedals:

The pedals gripped great when I first installed them and tried them out with normal shoes on. When I wear my Five Ten shoes they do not grip hardly at all. The spindle is taller than four of the middle pins so my feet slip around.

      Comments about Deity Compound Pedals:

I am a senior cyclist and tried some CX mountain bike racing for the first time this year. Clipless pedals were sending me to the ground too often because I could not make the simple foot adjustment sometimes needed to stay up. I gave these a try. I am pleased overall, and have discovered it is faster to get off your bike when needed than to fall over with it! You can't maintain that perfect alignment of the ball of your foot in line with the pedal axle, but that does not seem to be that much of an issue. Glad I made the switch, and these pedals were a good choice. Jenson allowed and helped me to change my color choice to speed up delivery.

          Comments about Deity Compound Pedals:

Just made the switch from clipless to flats and these pedals have worked great. I ride trail/AM and after several weeks of fairly rough riding, these pedals are no worse for wear. They appear extremely durable and don't get caught up in rock gardens. They probably are not the lightest or grippiest pedals you can buy but at this price point, I think they work fantastically. To be clear, they have a great amount of grip and I rarely slid off the pedals, but spend twice this amount and you could probably find something grippier.

            Comments about Deity Compound Pedals:

I liked these pedals so much on a mountain bike, after a year and 1,600 miles, I put another set on a flat-bar road bike. Clearance around turns requires some care with a road bike. They don't weigh any more than the cage pedals they replaced. The platform shape fits the sole of the cross-training shoes I wear and it's easier to apply pedal force without slipping through more of the pedal stroke. Bearing are smooth as can be and get better with use.
