Pulled my '08 Trek 7.5fx Hybrid out from under the car of a drunk driver a few days before ordering this rim as a replacement for a taco'd rear. No worries as somehow I jumped off my bike at the moment of impact and never even fell. Due to other comments I was a bit skeptical that my almost new 700X38c tires would fit on this rim. After mounting them I was even more skeptical as there was a noticeable bump while riding. After getting home I deflated the tire, added a little air, then worked the bead of the tire while adding air a little at a time, until the bead set properly. The rim is tough as nails, looks just like the Alex Rim that I was replacing, and is taking all the curb jumping, potholes, and gravel riding that I can throw at it. Had the LBS put it on their truing spinner and got a thumbs up with no adjustment necessary. Very good product and very inexpensive. Received in immaculate condition and promptly. Well done Dimension and Jenson USA.

Note: The rim is an Alex Y-2000 not Alex X-2000
These rims are 25 mm wide. They will not fit a narrow tire; however, they are a good option for a 700c ballon tire bike used for short commutes or trips to the store. Most wheels that fit a 40 to 50 mm wide tire are old freewheel type hubs without quick release. The cassette and quick release on these make it possible to run a few more gears and to have a little more flexibility For a wheel that handles a tire this wide they are the best deal around.
They were straight and true out of the box.
The only real way they could be improved is if they were a double box construction

I was able to seat a 700x40c tire no problem, but anything smaller was difficult to impossible to get the bead of the tire to seat properly. I tried a 700 x 28c vittoria randonneur, 700 x 32c Kenda kwicker cx tire, and a 700 x 35c kenda kourier tire and none of them would seat properly. The bead on these rims is just awkward and any normally used tire will be extremely difficult to seat. Spend a bit more money for a quality rim, these simply aren't worth the few $$ you save.
