The Komodo was built to bravely go where few hardtails have gone before: under the buns of Jamis sponsored rider Jordie Lunn. With Jordie’s input, Jamis designed the Komodo with slightly steeper geo, a 1.5” head tube for optimal frontal strength, welded on a XAM top tube for lowered standover and increased lateral stiffness, pumped up the seat tube diameter to take a 31.6 post for a firmer pedaling platform, and tweaked the rear triangle so you could stuff 2.4” tires in there.

Step out of the ordinary. Dump your full-suspender, throw a leg over the Komodo and get ready to build some serious skills.

I am more than pleased with this bike. It's not a great climber, but going downhill is a pleasure. I ride on the street, hit the local singletrack areas without major climbs, and play at the BMX track. The rear derailleur bangs the frame, but can be silenced with a little handlebar wrap. Bottom line: You won't find another bike of this quality at this price.

      Pros

      • Comfortable posture
      • Great Fork
      • Heavy duty frame
      • Nice brakes

      Cons

      • Color is a bit bland
      • Derailleurs are okay

      Best Uses

      • Dirt Jumping

I have loved the bike so far. I haven't gotten to ride it much, but have been pretty impressed. My only disappointment is color scheme and the rear derailleur. Shifts well, but pivots and hits the chainstay. I would prefer to have the SRAM X5 that is a solid mount for the most part so it doesn't slap when you are jumping or even just dropping off a curb. Hard to explain, but if you look at YouTube videos comparing the included derailleur and the SRAM X-5 you will see what I mean about one pivoting from the frame and one not. In the end I will likely just switch to a different derailleur.
