This is a great brake for Downhill. It's stopping power is almost overkill (especially if using 2 200 mm rotors), it's reliable, and it is super easy to bleed/ service.
The only downfall of these brakes is the adjustment knob on the lever. Either mine just didn't work or the amount of adjustment it provided was so subtle I didn't notice. Either way, it was still a great brake.

out of the box had issues with the rear brake, talked to tech at jenson (was very helpful) and my local bs. i was told my brakes needed to be bled, and avids are hard to bleed. after about 2 hours and bleeding the rear brake about 10 times and the lever still hitting the handle bar i took apart the lever and found a c-clip had come out and the push rod between the lever and plunger was dislodged, replaced it and they work great so far. ps thanks to the two guys that helped me w/my bike build. i walked in with a frame and came out with a nice bike, they set me up with everything in about 1.5 hrs.

As soon as these bad boys were broken in, they felt amazing. Avid did everything right from braking modultion to appearence. I love setting up for a tight switchbacks using my Codes to pivot the bike on a dime with both feet planted on the pedals ready to pound it into the straight away and setup for the next big drop.

I just got these before going onto my trip to mammoth and I never had problems. I didn't have to worry about going down steep black diamonds and not being able to break. Great product......get it!
