Best things about these brakes: easy to install, excellent stopping power (I'm using 185mm rotors), and great adjustability. I love being able to move the lever in to fit my small hands.
Bleeding Avids is a bit harder than other brands, and you pretty much need to buy Avid's kit, which is a shame. But the bleed process isn't too hard once you get it down. Watch their Youtube video for tips.

Have been using the Elixir CR for 2 seasons now. Lightweight, super adjustable design. Powerful once you bed it in. Have used this on everything from 160mm rotors up to 203mm rotors for all riding styles - XC, Trail, AM, FR & DH. Super reliable fade free stopping power. Pad contact and lever reach adjustments are all tool-less, so setup and tuning to your personal preferences is a breeze. Swapping out wheels, rotors, frames is made so easy because of the pad contact adjust - no more headaches worrying about whether your new rotors will fit between your pads.... just use the pad contact adjust. The one and only downside is that sometimes the more adjustments built in, the more potential there is that something could go wrong. Have had some bleeding and leaking issues over the 2 seasons, but I would still recommend this.

These are the best brakes I have experienced to date, having said that I have not had a chance to ride the latest from Shimano or others, however as a product in their own right these take abuse without fading, have excellent feel and great stopping power. I am no lightweight and ride technical downs that require instant and balanced braking, these stoppers shine.

I have these set up on my 29er FS bike and they work great, look great and are super adjustable. Best set of disc brakes I have owned yet. They were noisy for the first few rides and they just kept getting better and better. The Pad asjustment feature on the lever is great and the reach adjustment is super easy on the fly. A side note on these. The Lever feel is not very firm, they stop with very little pressure, but the feel is a bit off on them compaired to others I have had.
