Shimano XT is known for their great braking power. This servo wave braking system has a 125% power rating! Shimano has yet again improved this braking system by integrating over-sized 22mm Ceramic pistons. This increases braking power and reduce vibration. Not only are these excellent brakes, but they are easy to maintain, with the one- way bleed that was integrated into the prior year’s XTR braking system.

I put these on my Specialized Enduro, replacing the Elixirs it came with, and am very happy with them so far.
I was worried they would be "grabby" but that is not the case. With the servowave technology you can adjust it to your braking style. The reach adjust is super easy to set up. The brakes were easy to install with a great factory bleed and hose length.
After a few rides on them from XC to Shore downhill, I can say I have confidence in these brakes and would recommend them highly!

Come on no Rotors or Hardware?
These brakes are great, quiet and very light. The problem is that they come with NOTHING. Seriously, no rotors and or hardware included? That is pretty weak.

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
I installed this on my commuter mtb (voodo bizango w/rigid fork). It's a solid brake so far. It isn't really any more powerful than the well set up v-brake it replaced, but it certainly handles the wet much better (with the exception of squealing like a piggy).
The lever feel is o.k. but the draw is just a little too long in delivering power than I'd really like.
The hose was miles too long and required shortening, which isn't a terribly hard process, but instead it would be nice to see this kit offered with different hose lengths.
It's a good brake and the best hydro disc brake I've used, but I honestly expected a bit more from it. So far it's been nothing special.

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
These brakes are simply amazing and powerful, one finger braking.
With the Shimano XT I can lock the front wheel with one finger on pavement. I don't actually lock up my wheels while riding, but this shows the power of one finger breaking these brakes provide.
The hoses for front and back where much much too long and both needed to be shortened by quite a bit. A barb insert and olive are provided for shortening the hose.
It's possible, albit tricky, to shorten a hose without the need to bleed. However, in order to bleed properly you need a special funnel that screws into the resivor. The only bleed kits I've found do not contain a funnel, nor a syringe. I had to find those separately. Once you have all the components, bleeding is simple.
They provide excellent modulation. I've yet to experience brake fade on long decents (203mm front, 180mm rear). The lever reach is easily adjustable via a turn knob.

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
I've got a big, heavy 29"er FS. On top of that I'm ~225 geared up. Riding the local CC and AM style trails and these brakes have tremendous stopping power. Haven't noticed brake fade on the downhill sections or after a couple hours of riding.

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
I'm so glad I bought these brakes. They are killer. I replaced a janky set of Juicy Carbons that came on the bike, which I never liked.
These have such a great lever feel and are surprisingly strong. I installed them with the OE Shimano rotors and the whole setup is so great. IMO, Shimano has the best brakes out there. It's easy to get parts when you travel if needed, every bike shop carries pads.
I have tried quite a few different setups and always come back to Shimano. The XTs are a bargain. I would probably even run them with 203mm rotors on my DH bike...

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
i really couldnt believe how much stopping power it has with only using one finger.. but so true ,as described... only complaint for me is the cutting and bleeding the brakes.. not so easy without the proper kit. believe me.. ive tried without it.The older style way easier to bleed in my opinion

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
With the ice-tech rotors and the cooling pads found on these trail brakes, the XT brakes can handle everything from your local trail to DH action. The shorter lever is perfect for one finger braking and these are squeal-free. Set up is super easy and the price is good. I also have aset of the XTR brakes and I can honestly say that the XT is nearly identical in every way except the bling factor. Smart money stays here!

Comments about Shimano XT BR-M785 Pre-Bled Disc Brake:
If you need new brakes, a true upgrade, 2012+ Shimano brakes are the end all. Seriously sketchy sections used to worry me, but i have so much more control over speed. I can easily modulate the power to make sure I am crawling through the loose, or plowing through it. There is a learning curve on the grabby touch, but these brakes are not "on off." Spend as little as 10-20 miles on them and it will be second nature. I installed myself, it was a breeze. Literally put them on, and rode. Barely an adjustment. Second day out on these brakes, it rained and my bike was covered in mud. Not a peep of squeal or a drop in performance. I love when something plain works. No drama, just does its job.
Came off of Avid Elixirs. I thought they were good, I lived with the noise that would come and go. But screw the noise, the upgrade in the ride control and quality is what makes my avids a far second compared to the XTs.
