Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
These brakes are great. It has taken a couple of rides to get everything set. Powerful, lightweight, and a great design. On my previous systems the rear brake has always been a touch off in power and would not have a firm feeling in their actuation. Not with these. The progression of power applied to the rotors is just how I like my brakes to feel. Very progressive with firmness at the end of the stroke.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
Over the years, I've upgraded from mechanical disc brakes to hydraulic. My last bike came stock with Avid 5 brakes which were prone to fade on descents. After installing the Shimano XTR M988s, I was astonished at how much more braking power I had (without any braking noise). Additionally, the ergonomic brake levers facilitated one-fingered braking; something I found difficult to train myself to do with longer, heavier levers. Overall, the best set of brakes I've owned so far.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
The XTR Trail brakes have outstanding stopping power. My setup includes the IceTech 180mm rotors on an all-mountain Specialzied rig. Riding in Washington, it is wet weather riding most of the year and these brakes delivery awesome stopping power even in the wettest, sloppiest conditions. Easily descend a steep 500-1000ft trail with no signs of brake fade. I have yet to find the point where these brakes fail to deliver predictable stopping. This is a product that has exceeded my expectations and lived up to all the XTR hype. I would highly recommend these brakes to any aggressive all-mountain or xc rider. By far, one of the best upgrades for my bike.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
Responsive, great modulation, and heat dissapation. I had the brakes for about a month now. Works great and no leaks in the brake lines although many complained about this.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
I upgraded my rotors from 180/160 to 203/180 in conjunction with these brakes. I feel like I have twice the stopping power compared to my OE Shimano brakes. I can't imagine another upgrade being more impressive.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
While the budget minded XT version is probably a smarter buy, the current sale Jensonusa has on these makes this a tempting choice to get the best brake out there without compromising a bit. All the features are there from adjustable levers to a perfect single finger braking feel. With the cooling fins and some large ice-tech rotors, these can easily find a home on your Freeride or downhill bike.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
These Brakes are great. The short lever design really helps to keep only one finger on the brake. its great for racing and its great for casual riding. Its super lightweight and the stopping power is beyond anything ive ever felt. This brake is also super adjustable which makes it easier to adjust out on the trails without any tools. Most brakes have a very hard to spin reach adjust and the XTR Trails have a really easily adjustable one. I use these for DH racing as well as FR.

Comments about Shimano XTR Trail BR-M988 Disc Brake:
These XTR breaks have done wonders in my confidence on my Trek Fuel EX 8 mountain bike. These replaced a set of Avid 5 brakes and I have noticed a world of difference. A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. I now have the confidence that my brakes will never fade. Doesn't take much power to engage these brakes. I have more confidence now that I know my brakes will always be there when I need them.
