Dumonde Tech Original Chain Lube

We're pleased to offer Dumonde, some of the world's finest lubricants at Jenson USA. "Original" is recommended by Dumonde for cyclocross and mountain bike applications. It is identical to their "Lite" formula, but is more concentrated for use in extreme conditions with dirt, mud, and wet.

Dumonde Original is safe to use on all cables, pivot points, seals, etc., and of course on chains. It is eco-friendly and environmentally sensitive, designed by Dumonde for high performance with minimal carbon footprint.
  • Forms a long-lasting coat on chain surfaces
  • “Riding in” forms an extremely low-friction plating
  • Plating bonds to chain; can’t be washed off
  • Components stay cleaner, last longer, run quieter
  • Extremely durable, outlasts all other chain lubes
  • Environmentally sensitive and saves money

This is the good stuff
I normally ride in a lot of dust, using other lube the dust would grind the gears and sprockets till the slots looked long with sharp points at the top. And the chain would be so worn that my chain gauge would go through on the no go side in just a couple of hundred miles. This stuff fixed the problem. I always have a clean chain with no dust on it.

Once you learn to use this stuff correctly you will stick with it. I use the dark green stuff on my mountain bike and the lighter colored stuff on my road bike.

1. Soak the chain in some mean green or simple green to get all the old lube out of it.
2. With the chain on the bike, slowly (real slow) run the chain backwards putting one drop on each lug on every link. It will take a few minutes but well worth the time it takes.
3. Ride the bike around the block a couple of laps shifting gears to make sure you embed the lube into all the gears, sprockets and chain links.
4. When you get back you will notice some black gunk all over everything. Just wipe it all off and go for your normal ride. Do not re-lube.

You will notice the black gunk will come back on the first and maybe second ride after each lube. Don't re-lube, just wipe it off again.

**Don't re-lube till you "think" you hear the chain start making a squeaking sound.

If you wash your bike don't re-lube till you hear the squeaking sound or just feel like re-lubing. But it is not needed. When you do re-lube you will again see the black gunk. Again just wipe it off without re-lubing and keep riding.

I have dry lubes, wax lubes and this stuff is even better then ProGold Lube which at one time would swear by.

I don't work for anyone related to a bike shop or Dumonde. This is just some information that I wished someone would have told me so I would not have had to waste my time and money learning the hard way.

Dumonde original is the best!
it has a good gummy smell is what you'll notice at first.dumonde original has a thicker consistency compared to other chain lube.the technique is apply after cleaning /drying your bike chain and wipe off the excess oil before hitting the trail.actually an hour after application is enough time before wiping it off.i like this lube because re-applying is not as often compared to what i used,(pro link).

PROS: Easy to Use, Durable, Lasts Longer

CONS: Collects Dust-wipe B4 Use

Oil is Oil?
I have used many chain lubes over the past 3 years and this one is the best. I've been using this since 2008 and am very happy.

CLEAN and dry your chain AND cassette AND Crank Gears and then apply the oil. Run through all the gears a couple of times then wipe off excess oil. If you do this every few rides then you will have no problems with your bike shifting and working properly AND your drivetrain will last a LONG time!

PROS: Perfect for bike chains

CONS: none

Doumonde Tech lubricant rocks!
Great product! Does what it advertises. Jenson came through with the best price and very fast delivery. Dripped onto chain with a rag underneath. Hard to tell if I completely covered all of the chain. Had more on the rag than I would expect. Overall, easy to apply, not too messy and will re-do it in a couple of weeks. Worried about build-up.

PROS: Smoother Shifting, Easy to apply, Quiets chain noise

CONS: Needs a better dispenser, Clean chain a must

BEST USES: Cassette and chainrings, Bike chains

Great stuff
A great plating product if used properly. Best to start with a new chain. Clean oil off new chain before applying. Capillary action will pull product into pins. Clean with water and Park chain cleaner tool. Only reapply after complete cleaning. A good intermediate lube is White Lightning.

PROS: Durable

BEST USES: Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Long Rides, Commuting

4 day ride
I used this product riding the Colorado Trail over the San Juan Mountains. After numerous stream crossings the chain would start to make noise. I would try to limit the use of this product to dry conditions. On the dry days it seemed to last longer.

PROS: Easy to Use

CONS: Weak, Poor Quality
