Easton Haven 29" Wheel (Magnesium)
The result of Easton’s passion for engineering perfect solutions for specific types of riding, the Haven will deliver in any performance Trail or All-Mountain situation. Featuring an internal rim width of 21-mm, the Haven wheel is wide and beefy enough for 2.5” tires but still exceptionally light at just 1785 grams. Built from the ground-up to perform in performance Trail and All-Mountain situations. UST compatible rim requires no rim strip, eliminating more weight. Optimized for 15-mm thru-axles, but is also compatible with standard 9-mm quick releases.
New for 2011 is the dedicated 20mm front hub. Unique Threaded Eyelet system employs a nipple that’s threaded both internally and externally. The Haven employs conventional straight-pull spokes and can be trued like a standard wheel. Now available in black brushed/anodized finish.

I have been running these for over a year with no problems. They work well setup with tubeless tires or converted tubeless. They could be a little more flexible in converting axel size from 9mm to 15mm to 20mm up front and 135mm to 142mm on back. Last, why do companies ship tubless wheels with valves that don't have removable cores. You have to buy removable core valves like Stans or break the bead every time you juice them up.

If you are thinking about going custom, or stans, give these a try first(if you don't like them, they have good resale). They are extremely stiff, and handle a cyldesdale on some of the roughest terrain short of a bike park. I have two complaints one is the limited reverse compatibility of the hub, and the other is the odd color choices, I wish these companies would stick to neutral colors. Make sure you buy what you need, or make sure you buy the model of hub which allows for your future frameset, because these wheels will be with you for awhile. Don't be afraid of UST lots of tires work well tubeless or tubed, but some of the best 29er tires are available UST. Specifically Ardent up front Crossmark out rear.

These are a truly sexy wheel. Perfect for me as an all-mountain rider, they will do everything I need them to while remaining light and stiff. Now for the bad: I broke a rear spoke while climbing in 1-1. My buddy has had the same issue. Now Easton was great with the warranty, paid shipping both ways, even replaced my HUB! took about 3 weeks from the day I sent it back. However, and I'm still fuming about this, they sent the wheel back with different axle setups on either side. WHAT?!?!? Standard QR on the drive side, 12mm on the other. Are you freaking kidding me? Point is, they're awesome wheels, but be prepared to need some form of backup.

I put these wheels on my Giant Anthem because the stock wheels weren't UST. The bike has a chrome finish, so the magnesium made it look double sexy. I paid a lot for the wheels (close to $1k at the time), so expectations were high. They have not disappointed in the least. I was most impressed with them while riding in Southern Utah (St. George and Moab). They can take some punishment, and they are tough. Can't recommend them enough if you want some high-end performance wheels.
