New from Five Ten, The Freerider VXI features the all new Stealth Contact outsole. The Stealth Contact outsole is treadless under the foot’s ball for float. ┬áThe super sticky Stealth rubber absorbs shock so ankles are less fatigued than riding with standard rubber soled shoes. The high friction rubber is also designed for durability. The Freerider VXI is a low top, and shares the same look/ profile of its older brother the Freerider. The Freerider VXI is highly breathable, abrasion- resistant, and features a new performance fit, with an asymmetrical welt that provides extra crank- side durability.

Comments about Five Ten Freerider VXI Shoes:

I have owned these shoes for a long time now, and I feel ready to review them. First thing is, my pair seemed like it required tons of break-in time, and not to mention after much wear, they looked new and still look new to this day, really good synthetic performance material upper. And for that reason, I reached for my tried and true original freerider beaters on several occasions because this shoe out of the box feels like I have no contact with or feedback from the pedals at all, and they have weird wide fit. And that floatiness people state is true, especially if you jump gaps, because on several occasions my feat completely floated off pedals. I also tried using on bmx dirtjumps, and because of the pedal feedback I did not like them. But now after wearing them for several sessions and breaking them in, the sole is getting better and better, and maybe see what 510 were thinking with the smooth forefoot. I wanted to rate 3 stars, but after break-in, I feel 4, but reserve full judgement because in my opionion once this shoe is completely broke in, it will be an amazing shoe.

Comments about Five Ten Freerider VXI Shoes:

I purchased a pair of Teva's prior to these and gave up flats all together. Grip was horrible and uncomfortable. Knees hurt every time after riding. I was talked into trying it again, but this time with these shoes. Bit the bullet and purchased these. Night and day difference. I will never go back to clips on my AM bike. No knee pain and sometimes they feel like they stick better then my candies. I would recommend these to anyone. The best part of this shoe is the actual flat bottom beneath the pedal itself. This allows you to float like a clipless pedal by just releasing a little pressure. With other shoes, the pins get stuck in the tread pattern and you are stuck in that position and in my case it was not a good one.

If you want to ride flats, this is the pair of shoes to wear. I would also recommend a set of Deity compound pedals to go with them.

Comments about Five Ten Freerider VXI Shoes:

These shoes are night and day on flat pedals when compared with the running shoes I was wearing before. I have more confidence going over rough downhill sections. They are much more supportive and stiff in all the right places, yet still very comfortable. The soft rubber soles really grip on pedals, but the rubber is very strong and durable and does not get chewed up by the pedal studs. They are so grippy that is is difficult to adjust the position of your foot. You have to almost completely unweight your foot to be able to reposition it. This takes some getting used to, but I prefer this downside over slipping off a pedal. These run true to size (at least for size 11). I definitely recommend these.
