This model of the Freerider was inspired by Danny MacAskill, a Scottish street- trials pro rider. You’ve seen his videos online of him riding from (train) caboose to caboose, riding up walls, and back flipping against a tree.
The Freerider features a TPU toecap, TPR external heel cup, leather uppers, and a stiff sole. Dense foam cushioning under the ankle helps support your ankle, and keeps the shoe fitting snug.

Mostly use these for DH but get looks around town as well. I have three pairs of 5.10 shoes I rotate in and out and they are all great. The newer versions seem to wear better as the sole is harder. The round nubs on the older versions tended to tear after a few months of riding. Traction is phenominal and they are not super heavy.
