The Fox Talas is the ultimate fork for variable terrain. Flick the Talas knob into the short position and you’ll have 120mm of travel that’ll keep you balanced and steady as you climb up the back side of the mountain. The law of gravity states that: what goes up must come down. So, switch the Talas knob back and you’ll have 150mm of buttery smooth travel, perfect for mowing down rocks, branches, roots, and anything that may cross your path.
The Kashima coating is a hard anodizing process that fills in any micro pores in the material creating a smoother surface, in comparison to a hard anodization on prior versions. Its distinctive gold color is backed by its high performance attributes including extreme durability as well as an extremely smooth feel. The whole purpose and value of the Kashima coating is its friction reduction properties.
The Fox Talas features the FIT cartridge. FIT stands for Fox Isolated Technology. FIT technology employs a bladder system that keeps the oil and air from mixing to provide optimal performance in all riding extremes. Since the FIT cartridge uses much less oil, the weight of the fork is significantly less than one with an open bath style.
For 2013, Fox has added CTD technology to the Talas. CTD is short for Climb, Trail, and Descend. It is a three position on the fly system that provides three distinct compression dampings that you’d typically need on an average ride. CTD is extremely useful on the trail. The rider is quickly able to flip the lever between the three positions, and which results in being used numerously throughout the ride. CTD is much faster than the older click system, where the rider would have to stop and click through to find the proper setting.
Climb mode has the firmest low- speed compression, which maximizes pedaling efficiency and has minimal suspension movement. Internally, the oil flow is restricted, and can only flow through the Climb port, which limits the suspension’s movement. In the event of a hard impact, the spring loaded blow- off valve will allow the damper to go into its travel. Trail mode provides an optimal blend of pedaling efficiency and control on variable terrain. The oil flow is opened to the mid and high speed compression shim stack. Descend mode provides the rider with the most active suspension. Descend mode is an optimized low- speed compression setting which provides the perfect balance of control and plushness for steep, aggressive descents. Oil is able to flow through the high, mid, and low speed ports.
This version of the Talas has Adjustable Trail mode. Once the lever is set to Trail mode, this fork allows the rider to have an extra 3 clicks of trail mode adjustability (soft, medium, and firm.) Adjustable Trail mode acts as a fine tune low speed compression adjustment. Adjustable Trail mode provides the rider with maximum suspension adjustability on the trail.

Comments about Fox Racing Shox Fox 32 Talas 150 CTD ADJ Fit Fork 2013:
Installed this fork the end of last season on my Titus Motolite. Seriously a match made in heaven on that bike! Went from a similar, older TALAS fork with a standard QR, to this fork with the 15mm thru axle. Wow! What an improvement! Tracks like it's on rails, no flex at all. The new internals and controls Fox went with on this fork are top notch. Simpler user interface, not to mention the buttery-smooth Kashima coating on the stanchions. The move from the 3 position TALAS to the now 2 position is great. I never used the intermediate position on my old TALAS. The fork works great in either full travel, or short travel modes. Love this fork. Little on the spendy side, but Fox always delivers with their products. Money well spent.
