This is for FREEWHEELS, not cassette lockrings. For cassette lockrings, use the FR-5. If you aren't sure of the difference, then you shouldn't be wrenching on your gear. For freewheels (Shimano, Sachs, Sunrace) this is the right tool for the job.

I can't believe how people give things bad reviews when it was clearly their mistake, not a problem with the tool. This tool is for freewheels and it works very well. However, it is NOT for cassettes. Make sure before you buy one of these that you know the difference between a freewheel and a cassette; it's that simple.
This tool works great and I have nothing bad to say. I tried using a cheap "made in China" freewheel tool, and it cracked in about 5 places. This tool has taken HARD torque with no problems; a definite 5 stars.

It would not work on my SRAM 9 speed cassett. Had to get the FR-5 at the bike shop. Would be nice if your www specified what was what. I looked everywhere even in my new Park Tool Mechanics guide and SRAM wasnt listed as to which tool to use. Splines looks just like a Shimano but a couple thousanths off so the FR-1 would not slide on. Yet another useless tool in my box.
