GT Edge Ti Ultegra Jenson Bike

GT Edge Titanium Ultegra Jenson Bike

On a Road of its Own

There once was a time when bicycles were all made of metals and alloys — when carbon fiber was only used to build airplanes and Formula One cars. Steel has been a veteran and longtime benchmark to which comfort and bicycle frame strength is held, but also happens to be the heaviest material used to construct one. While you can hydroform and double-butte tubing to compensate for weight and durability, there's no doubt that titanium current holds KOM of the "metal" bike category. As light as carbon, stiff and comfortable as steel — titanium is the material dream bikes are made of. Owning one is not an impulse or an accident — it's a calculated investment and declarative statement of quality, comfort, and performance.

Sticking to their signature triple triangle design, GT designed the Ti Edge to capitalize on titanium’s highly sought after properties by supplementing this wonder material with some modern features such as a tapered head tube and a straight bladed carbon fork which solidify the front for more control and confident cornering. The tube diameters and compact geometry were strategically blueprinted to deliver a formidable blend of prolonged comfort and race-worthy handling and response, resulting in a bike that’s stiff enough to open up and sprint in a hurry, and light enough to ascend with its carbon brethren.

Pair the matchless Edge Ti frameset with Jenson USA’s handpicked Shimano Ultegra 11 speed mechanical drivetrain and tubeless wheelset, joined by Easton’s cockpit build, and you’ve got a road steed that won’t shy away from an intense criterium, yet its willing and able to carry you beyond 100 miles at the next gran fondo. Artistically, the Edge’s pristine welds and timeless chrome polished finish guarantee looks of utter envy from your fellow roadies. If you’re looking for a beauty of ride with a distinct personality that offers the best of both steel and carbon fiber frames for a pinch of a penny, look no further than the GT Titanium Edge Ultegra Jenson Bike.

Hydro formed titanium at its best
The attention to detail with the updated geometry that is held together with precise welds on hydro formed titanium is a work of art. The ride is predictable, instilling confidence upon descending at high speeds and holding a tight lines in corners. Upon mashing the pedals and gears to their full potential, the G.T. comes to life breathing a retro look onto a stage that is competitive with the Carbon masses. Amazingly stiff with a unique flattened frontal face of a tapered head tube adds to the genius of design. Having raced as a Cat 2 with memories of racing steeds from the Waterford Plant back in the day, I without reservation encourage you to put the G.T. Edge on the top of your list.

Should be a cult classic
I am absolutely digging this bike. The ride quality of titanium meets the hype; it's smooth, tracks precisely and accelerates well. And GT really created a beautiful frame with the polished graphics, nice welds and formed tubes.
And the Ultegra 6800 group is a perfect match.
The spec'd components are price point. They are functional and fine, just heavy. But, that's not a deal breaker at the sale price.
All of those things can be easily swapped. I changed handlebars (still aluminum), changed seatpost and stem to Thomsons, and a better saddle. Which dropped about a half pound off the bike. Given the sale price, I made these changes and still came in under a G from what I would expect the bike to cost.
There were some weird quirks from the original spec sheet. Mine came with a 50/34 crankset, which was spec'd 52/36. Fine by me as I live in a hilly area, but flat-landers may wanna double check. Also, my size Large frame had a 115mm stem and a 10 degree setback seat post. You have to assume a Superman position to hold on. Again, not a deal breaker, just odd.
Overall, it's a really great bike for a great deal.

Nice bike for the price, rides very smooth
Bike arrived in a very beat up damaged box with the bike nearly falling out. The derailleur hangar was bent and needed too be straightened. The compression cap was also in pieces rattling around the head tube. Both wheels were very out of true. I'm not sure if the delivery was rough or it was packaged quick and poorly. I was not impressed with the "built/tested/tuned" package as I had to redo nearly everything on the bike then I had my local mechanic do a once over adjustment double check.

Good Deal for an above average road bike
Product arrived ahead of schedule and was easy to put together. Packaging was better than any other bike I've received from bike companies direct. Jenson USA does a great job. Very happy customer.

Love This Bke
I bought this bike sight unseen. I am 6' tall and the large is perfect for me except I bought a 90mm stem and swapped the tires for Conti Gator 25c's. The ride is very smooth and I love the titanium frame. Jensen USA was great to deal with and I will continue to buy from them regularly!

My new favorite ride
Absolutely amazing Ti bike at an almost unbelievable price point! So far I've put around 200 miles on the bike and it's been everything I hoped for and more. Incredible light for climbs, and still quick and responsive on steep descents. I switched out the saddle for a Brooks C13 which dropped some weight on this workhorse of a bike.

Hi, just wondering if there are spacers for the stem or is the stem "slammed"? I prefer a little space between the headtube and the bars. Can't do that "racer" geometry. I'm old.
George on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: George, I'm not a Jenson / GT rep or anything but most boxed bikes come with an extended stem for height customization. If not, it appears that you can "flip" the stem for some added height or swap for a "riser" or adjustable stem. Hope this helps:)

What is the largest tire size this frame can accommodate?
Andrew on Jul 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi!
I asked GT about this a month ago, ant 25 mm is the safe answer. Depending on your rim with and type of tire 28 might fit too, but can't be guaranteed.

Could I use this as a cyclocross bike? or tri- bike? Aka -- can switch in and out narrow and thin tubes,
also back end frame clearance from ground for doing some technical stuff on trail or gravel?
