I bought mine 2 years ago, got the Matte Olive (green here) color in Medium and used the bigger pad set to get a nice and tight fit. The helmet can be a bit sweaty on warm rides and could use more ventilation, but for the price I'm very pleased with it.
I took some minor side falls and a few low-hanging branches hit with hit and I finally totaled this helmet on a DH run with a *sight* inappropriate bike and went over the bars and landed on my head on a rocky trail and ended with a front roll. The shell didn't cracked, but you can see the foam inside having a 1/4" gap with the shell. For myself, despite the gravity (no pun intended) of the crash, I only suffered a hit to the lower-back and rashes on my elbow. No head or neck damage and I'm glad I always wear a helmet since you'll be shoveling my brain out of the trail by now.
Called Giro and asked about their crash replacement plan and they offered me to send in my helmet and get a credit to buy another (either the same or another of theirs). Even thought this would save me some money, I think I'll keep it and buy another one. So I will have some food for though when my kids will ask me why they have to wear one.
I won't recommend it for DH, but park or urban fit the bill great. Might be a bit too hot for long rides thought.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
