Go singlespeed the easy way with this kit from Gusset! Why bother with expensive, dedicated singlespeed hubs? With this kit you can use any standard Shimano 8/9 speed compatible freehub.

Simply slide on cog, sandwich between the two spacers and tighten it down with the lockring. The spacers position can be reversed to adjust the chainline.

Kit includes 16 and 18 tooth cogs, 14 and 19mm spacers, and a lockring.

I just threw one of these on my urban bike today and I have to say I'm very impressed with the product. The quality seems very good and the included cogs are nice and burly. I got a great chainline with the unevenly sized spacers and setup was simple with only the 3 pieces. Way better than the kits with like a dozen spacers and way cheaper than buying a whole new rear hub. For $19 you can't go wrong. ss rocks.

Like another reviewer, I cannot get a straight chain line with this thing! I have a single-speed crankset in front (Truvativ Style SS) and have tried with double bashguard setup + spacers and with the default outside-bashguard setup. In both scenarios, the chain line is off, causing skipping -- or worse, dropping my chain (with single bashguard). I cannot improve the situation in the rear (swapping the spacers would make the problem worse). ... So I'm now going to cough up the extra $$ for the far more adjustable Surly setup.

You'll need the freewheel installer/remover tool, but to remove the old cassettes you can probably just hold them with channel locks instead of buying that special cassette holding tool.

By Greg

from Fort Collins, Co, Usa

i used this product beyond the time i expected it to last. it is a great way to avoid shelling out the dough for a new hub and freewheel. the chainline may not be perfect in all instances but it was for me and with the varying spacer widths it should be close.

put on, took off in ten mins because couldn't get good chainline. Do not buy, it is a waste. jenson needs a no star option just for this product.

By Bill

Ingenuity required to acquire the proper chainline. The cogs are stamped steel and in time digs into your freehub. I replaced the freehub (XT disk) with solid splines for a fix. I used the Gusset on another wheel and had to use an additional spacer (not provided) so that I could lock the cluster. Not user friendly, but is far more attractive to any other alternative spacers.

It's a simple piece that everybody must have, easy to install, works really great and totally strong, it didn't skip. I suggest to use a chain tensor for additional protection and a better average.

Good value, but you may have to be patient and use some imagination to get it working. Would be better with more complete instructions.

By James

from Denver, Co United States

It is next to impossible to get a good chain line with this thing. I bought it, regretted it, and have now bought the more expensive Surly kit, which I should have bought in the first place. Those guys do things right. This device just does not provide the adjustment needed. I though it might work until the first climb, when I could feel the chain trying to climb off the gears.
