I have an old school cannondale 3.0 MTB frame that has 1 inch threaded shock. I replaced it with a 1 inch threadless shock and used this to adapt the steer tube to a stanrdard 1 1/8 stem. It worked perfect when I paired it with a THOMSON ELITE X4 MOUNTAIN STEM. The adaptor is the exact same length as the clamp on thier thompson stem so no spacers were needed. A couple of notes theough: 1. you need a 1-1/8 stem cap. and 2 if you use spacers they must be 1 inch spacers - that is you should not put 1-1/8 spacers over the adaptor.

I used this for my threadless 1" conversion. The part fits beautifully, and the machining gives me confidence that it will stay exactly where I put it. Once the stem bolts are lightly tightened (enough that it holds the steer tube but can still be rotated), it's as if the shim adheres to the stem and they feel as one. Truly, what's not to love about anything from Thomson?
