The Giro Athlon is used by XC racers Adam Craig and the Rabobank/Giant MTB Team and by riders that are looking for a strong lightweight helmet that is comfortable in all conditions. Giro’s Wind Tunnel™ ventilation system is a combination of active vents with exaust channels in the helmet that push cool fresh air onto the riders head and pushing out the warm air that is already inside the helmet. Keeping the head cooler and more comfortable is just the start. For safety, Giro uses an In-Mold reinforced roll cage along with the In-Mold-EPS liner with polycarbonate shell. In the event of a crash, this technology allows the Giro Athlon to maintain structural integrity and offer maximum protection.
Giro uses Roc Loc 5, their best fit system, to fine tune the fit of the helmet with micro adjuster as well as the ability to offer fore/aft tilt adjustment. The interior padding is plush and uses X-Static fabric to combat bacteria and odor.

I ride a recumbent bike, which means that my head is more upright when I ride. So, I use a mountain bike helmet so that the visor shades my eyes. I had a Giro E2 helmet, which I loved but which was discontinued. I saw a negative review of the Athlon helmet elsewhere, based on how it sat on someone's head, but I took a chance when it went on sale. I could not be more delighted!! It is outstanding, and I like it even better than my E2. It is so light and good fitting that I sometimes forget that I am wearing it. Great ventilation too. This is a fantastic helmet!!

Not that different from other helments
Use this helment for communting and trail riding. I expected a lighter helment for the price. The lock system works well but the straps keep loosening for some reason.

My helmet is green/white, I love the color. I use it for warmer weather and climbs. The light weight and great ventilation really helps on the climbs. Giro's fit my head better than the other brands,it gives me protection over the eyebrow that most others do not. It is much lighter and ventilates better than my Xen.
The visor does not adjust up nor down. I would like the visor lower.

Wanted to upgrade my prior helment to a Giro light weight helmet which fits more comfortably. Feels true to fit unlike other helmets that seem to cradle your head to hard. Didnt know that Giro was made by Bell which states on a sticker under the helmet. I guess i'm riding with a lexus not a toyota now.
