I put it on my (rigid fork) hard tail aluminium mtb for an annual adventure race every year. Definitely off for short hill climbs where my weight weenie personality takes over! It's a bit heavier than the carbon cages, but really grips the bottle.
When I first saw the 'gel' bit advertised, thought - aha - marketing schmooze. Why does a bottle need to be comfortable (gel)? But this stuff dampens vibrations that cause bottles to creep upwards and then . . . everyone knows what happens next!
I have a hideous/ Italian style statement 'custard yellow' possibly enamel painted version. Being aluminum, the enamel paint gets 'friction-vibrated' off, then the bare aluminium leaves black oxide marks on bottles.
A titanium version (like the King Cage, but with the gel inserts) would be perfect, but guess there's not enough of a market for such a product. Sigh . . . . : )
