Works with road, mountain, Shimano, Campy, and SRAM drivetrains, as well as every mechanical disc brake or rim brake on the market. Please select "brake" or "derailleur" when ordering.

  • low maintainence
  • corrosion resistant design
  • stainless inner wires
  • "raincoat" cover help keep moisture and grit out of the system

On top of the fact that the wires are stainless steel and the housing is high quality, the kit provides donuts to protect the frame along the top-tube, and even a rubber piece to keep water from running down the rear derailleur cable into the cable housing. These wires do fray easily, but that's easily remedied by cutting with cutters that have curved blades, and then capping the wire immediately after installation.

I used this cable/housing combo for at least 6 months without a problem. After a while I noticed that I was having shifting problems with my rear der. I changed the cable a few times and I ground the edges, de-burred the ends of the housing and lubed everything before putting it all back together. Still had problems, I ended up replacing the Deore shifter with an XT but I still had the same shifting issues. I ended up swapping out 1 section of this housing with the housing that came with the shifter and my shifting seems to be normal now. (Which is a bummer because I liked the celeste color of the Jagwire cable more than the standard black).

In the end, I liked the color options of these cables and they seemed fine at first, but I think they were causing problems with the cable sticking and not shifting.

Seem good so far

By Just trying to keep her alive - Klein

Pros

  • Plenty of cable housing

Cons

  • None yet

Best Uses

  • On a Bike
  • To tie up unruly children

What a difference these made in the performance of my brakes. My old cables were probably original to the bike, which is over 10 years old. Cheap fix for the improvement made and I have enough left over to do my wife' s bike too.

Excellent quality and complete. Very smooth. I have Park cable cutters which makes cutting no problem at all with only a minimum of deburring for a professional job. In the past I have used my dremel with a cut-off disc. That also works. Ordinary cutters should NOT be used.

              • Any type of bike

This is a great kit. The housing is pre-lubed, so you don't have to buy anything else. There is plenty of cable and housing for even the largest frames. The cables have both types of brake lever attachments (just clip off the end you don't need). Cable end crimps, rubber "doughnuts", and a sticker included.

Installed these on a cyclocross/commuter that I built. Couldn't be happier. Cables are per-stretched and lubed. They were easy to cut and install. After 200 miles I've had no issues. Feels like almost no resistance when the cable moves. My only complaint is that the front derailleur cable was barely long enough. I ride a large frame, so this may not be an issue for most people, but double check your length if you have a large frame or have an unusual cable routing.

Feels like almost no resistance when the cable moves. After I get some more Miles on them I might buy a different color, as jagwire makes a full line of color options. I was just in a hurry to finish the bike.

                  Cons

                  • Maybe some friction

                  Best Uses

I installed both the derailleur and brake cables on a 19 in Jamis Dakar with BB7 brakes and Sram X9 drivetrain. There was more than enough cable length for even the largest bikes with the most convoluted cable routing.

The ferrules in this kit are a nice durable design that wont break off in your cable guides (unlike some alligator ferrules) and the frame guards are a nice touch to save the paint on your headtube.

The best attribute of these cables is that I don't notice them. They do their job and seem to have lower friction than "low friction" cables of twice the cost. If you really need virtually no friction, go with Gore RideOn cables, otherwise you wont find much better than these.
