I use this in conjuction w/ the K-Edge MTB ring guard on my hardtail 29er. The chain is now basically undropable no matter how hamfisted I am w/ the left shifter. It's a little pricey for what it is, but it installs easy and works great, so I'll say no more.

This is an awesome little product. There are alot of chain guides on the market, many of which are overkill and too expensive. I installed this in under a minute and off I went, lots of miles and no dropped chains.
