Kona Honky Tonk Bike 2015
A classic steel road bike for the modern age
There's just something about the clean lines and unfailing peace of mind one can only get from a steel frame. Like any sweet steely should, the Kona Honky Tonk allows you to ride anywhere, anytime, with a personality and ride quality that's both liberating and easy on the eye. Through its clever figure and Reynolds 520 tubing, the Honky Tonk employs proven design features and a road endurance geometry that keeps the rider in a more upright, comfortable position for the long haul. On this classic steed with the road passing under you, chances are you'll often find yourself riding along with no hurry and no worry.
We like the Honky Tonk for its sheer simplicity and versatility. It's a true all-seasons bike that doesn't shy from the elements. Rainy outside? Throw on some fenders. Konda designed the frame and fork with tons of space and medium reach brakes to fit big tires without fenders or smaller tires with fenders. Don't worry about ride comfort. Potholes and bad city roads are no issue with the comfy steel and big tires. Want to go shred some dirt? Throw on some cyclocross tires and have at it. From offroad adventures to winter training to commuting, the Honky Tonk is the answer to those who really want their road bike to do it all.
The Kona Honky Tonk is perfect for commuters who brave the elements year-round and aren't afraid of the unpredictable weather and street conditions ahead of them. It features long reach calipers for impressive tire clearance up to a 35c, making it a versatile ride that can be accommodated to your riding style. The frame was designed with comfort in mind to allow you to ride this bike for hours on end with ease. Roll up your pants and grab your wind breaker, cause you're about to go out on a ride you won't soon forget.

I also have a carbon road bike and an aluminum one, both more expensive than this bike. This one is starting to seem the most fun, though. I set it up with flat pedals as a "just ride" and bike party bike, and have been commuter. I replaced the saddle with a Brooks Cambium. The only other thing I want to change are the Sora shifters, but they do work fine. The shifter cable come out the the side of the shifters and run across out in front of the bars, instead of under the bar tape, which I prefer.
I live and work in California, but sometimes fly to visit my parents back home in Washington state. I was so happy with the first bike, and how it arrived packaged from Jenson, that I ordered a second one to keep at my parent's house.
If you want a fun and durable basic road bike, at a great price, get one of these!

It was pretty easy to put together so no complaints there.
There was one small scratch on the frame and the seat was damaged on receipt but mostly underneath where it probably doesn't matter much.

Q & A
While we haven't tested max tire clearance on this bike ourselves, we have read of many people being able to fit around a 38-40c tire in the frame/fork. I hope that helps.
