Quality seems very good. Fit feels a bit weird due to shoe design, but they are comfy.

Comments about Mavic Alpine XL Shoes 2012:
The perfect shoe for me. You can walk with them and not feel the clip underneath, too stiff to walk in all day though. Has good grip when walking in the trails/mud. Neoprene keeps dirt and such out of the shoe. Toes feel protected. Also has good aeration only downfall is that your feet get wet in washouts. The paten lacing system feels like it could break over time and the main velcro strap is not at the proper angle so it twists a little bit
Overall really happy.

Works fine with my crank bros egg beater. Walks well for shoes with rigid sole, angled tip helps a lot. They have a tight grip on your foot, heel stays firmly in it's place with the velcro strap. Can't wait to see them all dirty full of mud and dust and sh...

I've wanted to get these for a while but have been riding my shimano AM-47's that haven't worn out yet. I couldn't justify buying another pair of shoes when I didn't need them, but when these came up on sale I figured I'd better go for it. I could NOT be MORE satisfied. These a great, comfortable, and look as if they will be durable. My favorite features are the adjustability of the lacing and velcro straps, as well as the grippy outsole. I loved my Shimano's and still wear them for DH riding, but for my trail rides and enduro races where I might be doing some hike-a-bikes in rocky and slippery areas, these shoes will get the call. LOVE 'EM!!!!

Comments about Mavic Alpine XL Shoes 2012:
I bought these for winter riding. I like the closed toe (no air flow). I ride all year on trails and needed a shoe that kept me warmer w/out spending a fortune on specific winter cycling shoes. I use foot warmer footbeds and ride in temps down to the teens for a couple hours easily with comfort. I don't think they are marketed as a winter shoe but do the trick for me. I especially like the neoprene ankle cuff and the large flap on the front covering the laces which makes for a more protected ,warmer ride. They seem sturdy ,look great ,quality is good. I have only about 8 hours riding in them but so far I really like them. I think this was a good purchase, the price was right as well.

Comments about Mavic Alpine XL Shoes 2012:
I got these shoes after doing some research into an alternative to my more "sporty" looking shoes. i wanted something that looked more like a tennis shoe. I've been on a few rides and I'm completely happy with these shoes. I was concerned about the plastic clip for the shoelaces becoming uncomfortable under the velcro strap but I realized there's a pocket built into the tongue that hides the clip perfectly.
