The Aksion is the perfect race/ training tire. The Aksion features a light yet resistant 66TPI casing and a safe yet durable 65 shore A compound. Removing as much rotational weight to your bike makes all the difference when climbing steep hills. Therefore, Mavic kept these tires feather- light, weighing only 250 grams each.
  • Intended Use: Road cycling
  • Folding Bead
  • Weight: 250 grams

These tires are marked OE. They have not been been ridden on, nor have they been mounted to a wheel. They may lack original packaging.

Comments about Mavic Aksion Road Tire Oe:

Found these on sale when I was looking for a cheap tire to use in my fixie build. So far they are doing well in dry conditions but being a slick tire, it's just not a good idea for rain. I'll be looking to get an all weather tire soon. Also, the bead is quite tight on these tires, making it a workout to get them on. My thumbs were not happy after installation that's for sure. All together though, it is a nice, cheap, dry weather tire.

Comments about Mavic Aksion Road Tire Oe:

At regular prices, this tire might be unremarkable, but at sale price, it really stands out. As I understand it, this is the same tire that comes with the Mavic Aksium wheelset. The center of the tire is slick, and as you move to the edges, a simple diagonal line tread is present. The tires are pretty lightweight, and weigh in at about the advertised 250 or so grams. They feel grippy enough in the corners, roll smoothly, and don't seem to have any problems with a little gravel, chipseal, or freshly grinded pavement. I'm not going to take the chance testing these tires on thorns, glass, and other sharp things though. If you want to ride through that stuff, buy some Gatorskins or something.

One thing I noticed was the incredibly tight bead. I tried all the tricks, but still couldn't get it on by hand power. Might have been the wheel's size, but I figured it out. Just lever it on with your tire levers, and be very careful not to pinch the tube in the process, and to massage the whole tire before pumping it up.

Comments about Mavic Aksion Road Tire Oe:

i bought a pair of these to replace my continental gatorskin 700x25 road tires...i have had no flats with these tires yet with about 700 miles on them. The first thing i noticed was how much smoother these tires felt than my continentals. the speed and handling was much better too. i highly recommend these tires
