Can't beat it for [$] shipped

By Jesse

from Vallejo, CA

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • cheap
  • Low Rolling Resistance
  • Sticky 3-c compound

Cons

  • Heavier than nevegals

Best Uses

  • DH
  • Heavy XC

Why this tire was so much cheaper than everything else on Jenson I do not know. I do know that I made a good decision by buying these though. They stick way harder and roll way faster than the Kenda Nevegals I had on my One Ghost Tanto before. These things are a bit heavy but ride like a dream. These can take some abuse. Maxxis did not skimp on materials on these.

Good tire for the Money

By Rastis

from Morgantown, WV

Verified Reviewer

Pros

  • Good corner bite
  • Pinch flat resistance
  • Rolls Fast

Cons

  • Loose transition cornerin
  • Straight line braking

Best Uses

  • Freeriding
  • Hardpack
  • Loamy conditions

I use this on a Giant Faith for big mountain style riding and occasional race depending on the track. Tire has good corner bite once commited to laying the bike over at full lean but has sketchy transition to corner knobs that feels like you are going to wash out. Knobs eventually grab and have good feel once at full lean but braking traction at any partial lean is terrible. Straight line braking is not terrible but not the best. Tire rolls quick. If you are looking for a two ply tire for a steal this is for you but if you want the absolute best performace or a DH race tire you are going to have to pay at least 45-55 dollars for a better tire.

By san soo

from ontario ca

Pros

  • Bites just like a minion
  • Fast Rolling
  • Sale price
  • Strong side wall

Cons

  • Heavy

Best Uses

  • all mountain

love the maxxis minion but too expensive. this tire handles just like it maybe bit better. pump up the pressure and it rolls fast. i use it for my stinky with lower pressure since the sidewall can handle it. run it high pressure for my XC/all mountain bike.

Weight No Problem

By KwikRider

from Ft. Worth, Texas

Pros

  • Grip in Corners

Cons

  • Tacky slower times

Best Uses

  • Heavy forest
  • Loose gravel
  • Quick declines
  • Rock
  • sand
  • Steep inclines

I had these tires for seven months and nothing has made me feel more secure. This is the best front tire for all season. Best way to manage the weight is to find the Lightest inner tubing.
Once that is done NO Problems with speed!
