Revamp your 27.5+ Trail machine with the open and aggressive tread design of the High Roller II. With excellent soil penetration and mud clearing capacity, the square profile provides a solid, consistent feel across the knobs. Modified knobs on the shoulder and center, progress braking performance and traction on hard surfaces. Employing Maxxis's Exo Protection, the High Roller II is cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant on the sidewalls, while remaining flexible. The 3C Maxx Terra (triple compound) offers a comfortable combination of traction, low rolling resistance and longevity. This is a large, high-air-volume casing that still remains fairly light thanks to the foldable bead, making the High Roller II ideal for some freeriding on long-travel 5" and 6" trail bikes. You fell in love with it on your old 26" bike and have run it on each bike since, now crush everything in your path with the new plus-sized High Roller II.
So far, I love these tires! I ride mostly near Albuquerque on high desert and mountain trails. These tires get awesome traction and really soak up bumps, large gravel and rocks. Turning and braking are very good, especially downhill turns in the sand. They track very well over the loose stuff.
I run 18 psi in the rear and 16 psi in the front (tubeless, of course). I don't get any rim-strikes, burps or leak any sealant. They are 28 & 3/4 inches tall on my rims.
The only downside I have experienced is the slower rolling resistance when I ride on asphalt… you can really feel the resistance on rough asphalt roads. I don’t notice any difference in rolling resistance on dirt as compared to 27.5 x 2.8 or 2.5.
