This bag has a lot going for it hypothetically, but it fails in regards to actual function.
Firstly, the buckle, as noted elsewhere, doesn't really lock down securely. The left/right shoulder adjustment on the buckle doesn't like to lock down either. Fortunately, these issues haven't caused any problems when I am riding, as I have made some loops with the strap to hold it steady.
Secondly, the laptop size given seems a bit exaggerated. I had do quite a bit of pulling to get my 13" laptop in this bag and the velcro sometimes opens up. I guess this is the whole "Up to" 13" description.
Thirdly, the strap is really wide, but completely unpadded. It seems to bear weight well, but can be awkward to loop around your torso. Also, on me at least, the strap is really long. I suppose this could be an advantage for girthier individuals than myself, but as it stands, I simply have an abundance of excess strap to deal with.
Had I not gotten this bag on a wicked awesome deal, I would have sent it back, but, as I did, I will modify the bag accordingly. Should you decide to purchase this bag, expect to have some issues that might need to be resolved in order to make it worthwhile.

I bought this product because after careful consideration of the specification. This is great for my preloved gadgets like my alienware m11x, iPad, iPods and some external battery that i would like to keep protected all the time when travelling. Extra padding, waterproof feature and the size are the real score. Else is understandable. Some said the smell is awful, but when i receive the item it was in excellent condition. packaging is great. NOTHING to complain about. the only thing that distracts me is the huge buckle on the side, if only it was the same buckle as the other end it would be perfect.

I purchased this for school and carrying my 13" macbook. The problem is that what I call a 13" laptop is actually longer than 13". I think this bag would fit a laptop that is actually 13" long; it does not fit one that has a 13" screen.
That big buckle on the side . . . it comes open at bad times causing the bag to hang really low and isn't as easy to adjust back to size once it has fallen to it's longest length. It's also very big and bulky but I can live with that.
my rating is a combo of the bag and the condition that it arrived in.

I use mine to carry art supplies to class each week on my bike. The only part that is hard is getting the handlebar attachment locked in place. I've found the best thing to do is attach before mounting on handlebars.

The Hot Dog is a great bag but needs some minor changes to make it even better. The die-cast cam buckle is sturdy but it's really hard to close it completely. And if you take the strap out of the buckle, it will be almost impossible to put it back. As you can see in the picture, the buckle is not completely closed and the strap is not folded inside of it because I took out by mistake.
The laptop sleeve is non-removable which eats up a lot of space if you don't have a computer.
It's great to transform it to handlebar or pannier in just a few seconds.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
