Best tire for the buck! I personally own mountain bikes only, and was tired of wearing out expensive MTB tires on the pavement during commuting around on weekdays when I'm not hitting the trails. MTB tires were noisy, rough, and are higher resistance than tires made for the pavement or hybrids. So I tried many different tires, until I came across these set of Michelin Country Rock tires... Now it makes me wanna ride all the time! is comfortable, smooth, quiet, fast, looks good not supper skinny and most importantly super economic. I have owned this pair of tires a little over a year, they still have some meat and never had a flat. I'm definitely buying these again! What? You still have not purchased them? What are u waiting for? Christmas?

I pretty much use these on a MTB converted to street use, for daily transportation to work. To get a better quicker ride, for the better part of a decade I always went with & bought Kendra Kross Plus tires (a great cross between street & the occasional hard pack trail...knobbies only on the sides).
After going thru about half dozen of these (the Kenda's), I decided to try something different with better/less rolling resistance which were these Michelin's. The price was great & it looked more dedicated to street, with no thick knobbies.
Well, I was wrong. These tires and there side walls are very soft, no matter how many PSI you put into 'em they always ride/look as if they are low on air. Cornering at times (and Im not talking warp speeds, almost parallel to the ground), feels as if the tire is going to come off the wheel. Also because the rubber/compound is so soft the rolling resistance is horrible compared to the Kendra's I always used.
What is shocking & dissapointing is I do use Michelins on my dedicated offroad MTB (I am a big "Wild Gripper hot S" fan), and they have always been stellar! I am just going to go back to using the Kendra Kross plus's for my commuter, they are tried and true, and only double in price of these Michelins, which is still a bargain in $$.

Comments about Michelin Country Rock Tire:
These are the best tires ever for mountain bike commuting. I am on my 3rd set and have purchased a new set every two years for the past 6 years. I will not buy anything different because these are perfect for street riding, and they will also handle off road. Do yourself a favor and get a set.

Love is the only word. fast, quiet (so quiet you can startle pedestrians). great traction, even on trails and roots. dry trails of course, they are not mud tires, but they have gotten me thru some bogs anyway. tread design/compound works great to keep rocks from cutting tread. i have them on my XC bike and i will be bummed when it gets so wet i gotta change them out until next spring/summer. did i mention they were fast?

Had a set of these on a commuter bike, they lasted through 2 years of daily commuting before salt ate through the sidewalls. The tred pattern forces water out from under the tire, providing good grip on wet pavement.

I bought these to make the mountain bike that my wife rides easier to ride on the street. My wife is not an avid cyclist and prefers the mountain setup to a skinny tire street machine. I found these and tried them out on my bike before I mounted them on hers. They completely change the character of the bike from a slow moving beast to a smooth rolling not quite sleek machine on the road. My wife noticed the difference immediately and absolutely loves them. She was so impressed that she talked one of her riding buddies into buying a pair.

Comments about Michelin Country Rock Tire:
Really loved these tires until the bike they were on got stolen. It was an early-90s rigid mountain bike that I used largely for commuting (in a town with terrible roads), and some light off-roading. They were champs at dealing with New Mexico road hazards, including thorns, loose gravel and sand, and mean potholes. Despite being soft enough to get good traction, the rubber seemed rather durable and tough.

Perfect tire for Mtn Bike on city streets.
Comments about Michelin Country Rock Tire:
I'm put a lot of miles through the city on these so far. From asphalt to alleys the traction vs rolling resistance is about as good as it gets. Unless you ride real off road, ditch those mountion tires on the cummuter/ recreation bike. You'll get so much more enjoyment and distance out of the ride
