Comments about Michelin Wild Grip'r Advanced Tire:
Nice tires! I bought these to replace a set of Michelin Country A/T that I had previously. the tread patterns are nearly identical. I decided to treat myself to a higher TPI tire this time around.
The first thing I noticed was, well, how hard they were to install. It took some real sweat and elbow grease to get the second bead coaxed onto my rims, which don't have any sort of valley cross-section to speak of.
After getting them on and aired up, the next thing was that they were a lot skinnier than my old Country A/Ts. Why would two sets of tires, with the same listed dimensions, from the same manufacturer, be so different? Oh well.
I've had them for a few weeks now. I've been commuting (off-road) to work almost every day on these tires, and have found them rather satisfactory. They seem less grippy in certain situations than those they replaced, but that might be because they're narrower and New Mexico is very sandy. My ride includes fairly nasty ascents and descents, and in both cases the limiting factor has been my own strength/skill. These tires have not been at all slippy or unpredictable, front or rear. I was even able to power through a small mudpit, despite having little experience with mud as a desert-dweller. :P
I ride my bike on the road a fair amount too (as ridiculous as that seems with these tires), and they don't feel like they're impeding me or making me work very hard.
