I'm using this bar on my hard tail Niner EMD, which I have set up as a 1x9. Since my stem ha a little rise I added to flat bar to keep the front wheel down on steep climbs, out of the saddle efforts would result in unexpected wheelies with a riser bar. I think the wider bar offers better control and leverage although I do have to watch out for the occasional clipped tree.

There is too much bend in this bar for me. I may not have researched it thouroughly enough to find a straighter bar. This bend forces you to keep your elbows in while riding and I am 6'4" 260 lbs and ride like a gorilla so its uncomfortable for me. If your a straightup XC rider, this might be just right for you. It is still a quality bar though.

Bought this bar to replace the Bontrager 'Big Sweep' bar that came on my Fisher 29er and hurt my wrists. Really pleased with this bar for the price, of course carbon would be lighter but comes with a far bigger price tag.
