I bought these cause i wanted something cheap to get me started in clip less. They're a little heavy but not bad i'm not really a weight weenie. The size does run small i decided to listen to everybody else and went one size bigger. If you wear a shoe larger then 13 then your probably out of luck.

Shoes are fair for the sale price. First pair of non Velcro shoes I've bought. Not a fan of the floppy laces on a bike. When off bike crouching, shoes can pinch the toes a bit. I'm a huge Pearl fan....these aren't as premium as most other Pearl products I have. They are very comfortable to walk in....but toes went to sleep more often on the bike. All the reviews about them running small are true. Typically wear a 44 but the 45 fits great in this shoe. Happy riding.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Road Shoes:
I bought this shoe as I did not want the harder bottom, funky angle bike shoes. I use them with multi directional cleats and the shimano PD-M545 pedals. Perfect combo for my AZ trail riding. Not lowest weight and not most efficient, but the shoes are comfy, I love standing on a true platform pedal and when I get off the bike I can walk like a human. Price when I purchased was great so made my choice easier. If you want clipless, but don't want to go "all in" with the tiny "clip only" pedals and hard shoes....this is your combo. Previous reviews suggested buying a 1/2 size bigger than normal. That seems right on.

A GREAT URBAN CYCLING SHOE THAT YOU CAN ALSO WEAR CASUALLY, BUT BE CARFUL WHEN ORDERING, SIZING RUNS SMALL.

First time with clip in shoes and these are awesome. They look much better than the photo. In the photo the seem to look almost gray which is not the case. They are black and so is the mesh and the highlights are silver. The Velcro straps have the words Pearl Izumi in silver not a hollow space like in the photo. In short they look dam good. As far as function there are just as great. You can walk normally in them and they make solid platforms on the bike. Best bang for the buck. I can't believe I got these "specialty" shoes for cheaper than my nikes and I'm a cheap skate.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Road Shoes:
I wear a size 13 with moderately wide feet. The size 48 was perfect for me. These shoes are an excelent value and work well. They look like regualar shoes and are easy to walk in. My only complaint is I had to cut about a quarter inch of the rubber tread away from the sides of the cleats in order to get the shoes to clip in easily. I am using full size pedals with the clips on one side and a platform on the other. Im sure if I was using the small clip only pedals it would not have been a problem.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Road Shoes:
These were my first set of cycling shoes and I was looking for something that I could wear on my commute to work, without needing to take another pair of shoes to wear around the office. These are comfortable, light and have a great casual sports shoe look that is more suitable for my workplace than other more "obviously cycling shoes". As I haven't ridden spd pedals before these shoes, I don't have a point of comparison, and after about a month, it's a bit too soon to comment on durability. But at a price that is less than a third of the average local retail(including delivery), I couldn't be happier with my choice. These shoes pretty much do exactly what I want them to do and look good doing it. I was a little worried about sizing (I usually wear around a size 13/14(UK))but these fit realy well. Just as well as ther was very limited choice across all brands imn anything over size 48- size 49 was just right.

Just not that good of shoe...I took a flyer based on sale price for some shoes to wear when riding to the gym...Purchased a whole size bigger than I nomally wear the they where still too small. Also just had an overall cheap look...They show a normal retail of $100 bucks...never going to go for deal shoes ever again!
Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Road Shoes:
I am currently using the shoes for errand rides where i have to walk some and they are very good. The cleats are well recessed and will not hit the ground. Lately i've been also using them for downhill rides and they have good traction when i have to hike the bike up.

Purchased these around 6 Months ago wanting to give clipless pedals a try. They have held up great and are extremely affordable for beginners not wanting to invest too much. Highly recommend.
