If you have been tossing the idea of getting a 29”er around for awhile, Surly has a very viable option. The Karate Monkey was one of the first 29”ers to hit the market. The heart of the Karate Monkey is the 4130 CroMoly steel tubing that the frame and fork are comprised of. As Surly stated “Butted where it matters to provide a durable yet resilient ride.” The steel frame absorbs shock, and offers the rider a more comfortable ride. The seat tube is curved forward, which allows the rear wheel to tuck under, and results in a shorter wheelbase. This provides better rear wheel traction. The rear “dropouts” are horizontal rear- load style with a derailleur hanger. Therefore it can be run as a single speed or multi- geared bike. You can now run your Karate Monkey with your favorite pair of disc brakes.

- 51mm IS disc mounts; Karate Monkey is disc brake only
