Niner Air 9 RDO will provide you with a high performance cross country hard tail that is stiff and very light. To begin, the Air 9 RDO is constructed out of high quality carbon fiber . The layup was computer generated and has been put under numerous stress tests. The Air 9 RDO features a tapered headtube for an incredibly stiff front end. The internal shift routing was designed for full length housing and simpliefies cable changes, while protecting cables from the elements.
The Niner Air 9 RDO had a minor facelift for the new season. The frame’s tube diameters were trimmed throughout, without reducing any of the RDO’s renowned strength or rigidity. The Air 9 RDO features the smaller PF30 shell which negates the need for an alloy insert, further saving weight. The rear brake mount is tucked inside the curving stays to distribute twisting forces evenly, permitting smaller caliper mounts and decreased wall thicknesses. The headset races in the headtube are now molded carbon. As the name RDO (Race Day Optimized) implies, this is a race machine meant to put you on the top step of the podium.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the Air 9 RDO is that it features Niner’s Hardtail Geometry. Niner’s geometry has been verified over and over again by independent magazines, blogs, and reviewers. Whether you are climbing or descending, the geometry of the Air 9 is tuned for excellent handling and rider positioning.
The Niner Air 9 RDO SLX build features high end components at a more affordable price. The RockShox SID RL features a tapered alloy headtube, external rebound and lockout, and a 15mm maxle. American classic Terrain wheels were built to take the stresses of the cross country trail, without tipping the scale. Ten speed Shimano components liter the bike throughout. Shimano SLX shifters work seamlessly without Shimano SLX derailleurs and the Shimano Deore crankeset to create smooth and reliable shifts. The WTB Volt saddle features custom Niner graphics with maximum comfort in its weight class. The Niner Air 9 RDO carbon was designed to be the ultimate cross country mountain bike. It’s light, fast, and efficient.
