Niner RDO Carbon 29" Fork

Niner RDO Carbon 29" Fork

Niner’s RDO Fork embodies the simplicity of mountain biking’s rigid yesteryears and dowses it in today’s dynamic modern technology. The RDO Fork takes Niner’s Carbon Fork and then latches a beefy 15mm RockShox Maxle through axle to it, delivering the precision steering and torsional stiffness needed to tame a 29” horse. In addition to the gobs of stiffness naturally produced by the 15mm axle and carbon construction, the RDO Fork places the cherry on top with a carbon tapered steerer tube.

The RDO Fork truly capitalizes on the damping characteristics of carbon and how it can be used to enhance the ride quality on the trail. Instead of merely bonding an aluminum pipe to a set of carbon blades and calling it a fork, Niner’s monocoque design is a one piece carbon fork that completely eliminates bonded sections. Unlike three-piece bonded forks which often have stress risers in transitions between different materials, the monocoque sculpture greatly reduces weight, and not only retains its strength, but actually increases it.

Understanding the science of carbon fiber properties, Niner shaped the outside of the RDO Fork in way that disperses impact energy throughout the entire structure to dampen trail vibrations before they make their way to the riders hands, and without throwing off steering control.

This fork may be titled “Race Day Optimized (RDO),” but it’s safe to say it’s for anyone seeking a stiffer, lighter, stronger and more forgiving front end than ever before.

Niner RDO Carbon Fork Features:

  • Disc brake only
  • No rider weight limit
  • Fits rotors up to 185mm
  • 470mm axle to crown
  • 45mm offset
  • 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" tapered steerer tube

Exceptional Fork
I upgraded from a chromoly steel fork and the first thing I noticed was how much lighter the bike felt when I picked it up. This obviously helped with climbing but I think the more significant benefit was the damping of bumps. I ride trails with lots of rocks, roots, drops, etc. and I keep finding myself out in front of my friends on the descents, who mostly ride full suspension. After using this fork, I will not be going back to a suspension fork. It has all the perks you'd expect from a rigid fork for climbing and cornering but also has damping technology for downhill.

Super Nice
Adds a TON of stiffness to the front of the bike compared to other forks and saves a bunch of weight. I made mine even lighter by opting for the MAXLE STEALTH aftermarket option (ditches the QR lever for a hex fitting and saves ~30g).

This thing totally changes the way your bike tracks though the rough stuff, yet is somehow more compliant. The best rigid fork money can buy. Worth every penny... Love it!

Best decision I've ever made! This made a world of a difference in handling! It made my one9 RDO handle like a bmx bike on the trails, direct steering, very confidence inspiring! The only drawback is that it can beat up your hands if your tire pressure isn't correct. I run continentals xking or race king protections at about 26psi for a wonderful ride. I weigh about 195-200 lbs.

Stiff + Light = Fast
Put this on a hardtail 29er to make a fun easy day/race rocket bike. It's awesome, everything I wanted it to be. Super stiff and light. Power transfer is incredible now.

Make your bike light and quick.
Decided to go rigid again for the local trails. All dirt, small roots here and there. MAXXIS Ikon 2.2's at low pressure and it is loads of fun. It weighs nothing. Very high quality.

Will a 27.5+ wheel fit in this fork?
Zakbugaj on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Similar to the prior reply/answer, this fork is tailored for a 29" tire. As I understand it, this fork is meant to replace a shock with 100 mm travel (and still maintain the geometry/angles of the bike).
The largest 29" tire I've fitted with this fork was 2.35" and still had plenty of clearance.
Is the compression plug included ?
A shopper on Jan 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They come with an explandabke one that is put in after cutting if one must cut. Easy to do.
What is the hub spacing on this fork?
A shopper on Jan 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Spacing 100mm: to be used with 15x100mm through axle
Is this a 1 1/8 straight steer tube?
Michael on Jul 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, this is a tapered steer. I believe its 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 taper.
