After breaking my cheap chain whip, I decided to go for the old blue. I was deciding between this model and the SR-2.2, but decided to go with this model because it featured two tools and was $10 cheaper. While this tool will get the job done, I wish I had gone for the SR-2.2 or Abbey tools chain whip. The chain still feels a bit flimsy (that's how my old tool broke) but the handle feels solid. The biggest problem is the rectangular handle digs into the palm of my hand when using the tool making it hard to apply force when wrestling with a really stuck cassette. The SR-2.2 has a round handle which is supposed to be better for applying high amounts of force. If you only use the tool occasionally to remove cassettes you'll be fine, but if I was wrenching on bikes all day or used the tool frequently I would spring for the SR-2.2

Comments about Park Tool Park SR-1 Chain Whip:

I'm sure that you could find a cheaper model than the Park Tool SR-1 to do the job. However with that being said, I've always believed you get what you pay for. As a professional mechanic (aviation/auto racing) I depend on my tools, Park makes good dependable tools that will last a lifetime.

This is a great, affordable chain whip. I only use mine a couple of times per year, but it definitely beats having to go to the LBS to take off a cassette. Great addition to the tool box.

this tool works beautifully. Easy to hold and provides excellent leverage when loosing the lock ring of your cassette. the handle is very comfortable as well. It will last for years, I am sure.

Comments about Park Tool Park SR-1 Chain Whip:

I race singlespeed MTB, so I change gears quite frequently. I use this tool and it works just as it should. It has a 'wrench' on the opposite end, which is only useful during re-installation.
To take the cog/cassette off, you thill need another tool.
