The quick drying and highly breathable mesh/ synthetic upper delivers excellent comfort while keeping your feet cool and dry. The Anatomical buckle closure system reduces hot spots and removes pressure from your instep. The Enduro III has three carbon lugs for hiking your bike up hills that are too upright to ride up. With plenty of traction on the bottom, you won’t find yourself sliding backwards while hiking.
Feature packed and incredibly comfortable, that’s what makes the X-Alp award- winning!

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduro Iii Shoe '12:
I have mountain bike pedals on my road bike because I like being able to walk comfortably in my bike shoes. As a compromise between riding performance and comfortable walking I don't think you can beat the shoes.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduro Iii Shoe '12:
My biggest complaint about these shoes is fit. And obviously fit is going to vary so much from person to person and manufacturer to manufacturer, that it doesn't seem like a good basis for much of a complaint.
However, I find the upper to these shoes to be inordinately big compared to the nominal size. I find that they are loose even with the buckles cinched all the way down. And yet the toes are right about where I would expect them to be on any other shoe. I switched out the innersole on these with something more substantive just to get a reasonable fit.
An additional problem, perhaps exacerbated by the fact that I'm always trying to get them as tight as possible, is that the ratcheting straps and buckles wear out prematurely. Pearl Izumi is really good about sending you new straps if you ask. But I expect the straps to last longer than a year of intermittent use before asking. I've never asked for new buckles. But maybe I should. I've had the spring snap on two of them.
The biggest attraction of these shoes, and why I keep giving them a chance, is that they are not-too-sporty-looking for a semi-performance shoe. That is, I imagine I can walk around in them without drawing too much garish, day-glo attention.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduro Iii Shoe '12:
great all around shoe. more room in the toe box than traditional xc shoes. also not as stiff but i like that. can even be worn while driving they're that comfortable. my other shoes were sketchy during stream crossings, muddy hike a bikes, etc. these feel similar to a light hiking shoe that you can ride in. more cushioning which helps on these old bones.

Comments about Pearl Izumi X-Alp Enduro Iii Shoe '12:
Love the shoe so far and don't really have a negative thing to say about it. Its comfortable enough to walk (or hike a bike) in and stiff enough for a great ride. Would definitely recommend and buy again.
