These pedals are very good for the price. Their main flaw is that they do not have the same bearings as the 2 and 3's. They are a good pedal to try if you are not sure about if you will like the CB entry and exit. I have just upgraded to the 3's and now use the 1's on my road bike. Excelent product, poor bearing choice.

I have had a pair of egg beaters for over 10 years and they are still used to this day, great for all purposes as long as you have a stiff shoe to go with them.
These are awesome pedals. I love the ease of entry and they are strong enough to hold me at 260lbs.

Although Crank Brothers market this pedal mostly for mountain biking, I've bought it and installed it on a road bike to match Candy SL installed on my mountain bike (no need to have different shoes for each bike IMO).
So far I have only good things to say about this pedal: It is quite light for the price paid, it is very easy to clip in and out and it also seems quite robust for an entry level pedal (but only time will tell, I'm still on my first season with it).
My only complain is that Crank Brothers charge a premium price for extra cleats (1/3 of the whole pedal price).

Easy to get in to and out of. Only took a few rides to get used to.

Super easy, simple design. Replaced SPD pedals on my Cross bike. In and out are easy and fast. No tension adjust as springs wear and break-in. Not sure it will be needed but.....
Overall they are great pedals at a great price point.

This pedal has met all my needs. Great pedal if you are looking to start riding clipless.
I've used platforms, spd, time, etc... and none of them compares to the eggbeater pedal design. It is a perfect product.
Couldn't ask for anything better. Easy to use and holds up well to off road abuse.
