These are a great alternative to toe clips. I used them on my fixed gear commuter for about two year, and they worked great. They're strong enough to pull up against to slow down the fixie, and I like that you can use them with any shoe. My only complaint is that the strap can loosen with use, but it's pretty simple to tighten it again.

These are a good product if you need to keep your feet tied to pedals and don't want to deal with special shoes or toe clips
The only way they could be improved is to be adjustable so that you could tighten them a bit after getting your foot in

I used these pedals for 3 years at college and they were perfect for riding to class and some occasional trails. They are a good compromise between normal platform pedals and clipless. You can wear normal shoes and still get a powerful upstroke. But now that I'm riding some more serious singletrack, I'm going clipless.

I love these things. I'm always worried they are going to stop making them and I'll be stuck trying clipless again.They are heavy and the screws strip if you over tighten them.They look dorky but if you are a good enough rider who cares what you look like. When they stall at a tough spot and tip over because they are stuck in their pedals it makes it all worthwhile.

great for the trail rider that is about to take a step up to clipless. but for a racer not as good unless they are great at getting their feet in and a willing to sacrifice possibly a few seconds from their final time
