The 3wrencho is your best buddy when you have a flat. Unlike your other friends the 3wrencho is made of heat-treated steel, removes 15mm axle nuts and can pry tires off of rims(be careful, this lever is made of steel and can scratch your rim). Feel free to step on 3wrencho for added leverage when loosening axle nuts.
I bought this product as an addition to my Topeak Alien to service my Retrospec Beta. Normally at home I have a full tool set, but out here in the middle of no where I needed just the essentials. So far I have removed and reinstalled the wheels on my bike several times and changed and rotated the tires with it. What a great product. The coating is probably the best part--the thick plastic layer around the galvanized steel allows you to slide it along your rims or knock it into painted surfaces on your frame without worrying about it scratching or chipping the paint. Its probably heavy ehough that some users will want to leave it at home, but I carry it around for any emergency tire changes. Its perfect for fixies and city-bikes with bolt-on hubs; pick one up and leave the crescent wrench at home.
I went with the non coated version (simple) to reduce the overall cost. I had a number of flats in the past 2 weeks, but I lost my long 15mm wrench. I was worried about getting this little guy, but its smaller (easier to carry), lighter (cause it's small, duh), and stronger (wide head and thicker). It does a much better job of than my wrench which is 2 or 3 times as long.
On the minus side, this guy is about 3 times more than a wrench, easy to carry and lose. However, it has a built in tire lever so its a wheel/tire removal solution.
~ only thing missing is a pump. ;)
I'm very frugal (cheap) when it comes to bike gear, but even so I think this guy is a GREAT buy. VERY HAPPY!
Very sturdy tool, and a good lever to boot. I've used it to mount/remove tubeless tires onto stubborn rims (with other levers...one isn't quite enough). The coating on the tool helps protect the finish of your rims, and it is actually thinner than the large coated Park levers. The wide lip makes it easy to get a good section of bead without it popping out.
Of course, the tool has a 15mm wrench on it, and it works well for emergency repairs. As PDW suggests, you can get better leverage by stepping on the tool
The only gripe, as mentioned by the other reviewer, is that the tool is fairly expensive for what it is. If you can find it on sale, it is a definite good buy.
