The G-Form Knee Pad provides form fitting protection for all day excursions out on the trails. G-Form uses RPT™ - Reactive Protection Technology, a blend of Poron® XRD™ and proprietary G-Form materials and technology. RPT give you a protective material that is progressive, meaning it gets tougher as the impact increases. It will also keep protecting you after repeated impacts without losing any of its protective qualities.

RPT Technology in the G-Form Knee Pad also keeps the pad light and comfortable and protects your knee on rides where you may not want downhill type protection that may be too bulky. The protective exo-skeleton is hinged to remain flexible and not restrict movement. The protective element is attached to a compression fabric in order to keep it close to the body to insure that your protection does not move away from your key areas. The G-Form Knee Pads can be worn in warm or cold weather, on top or underneath clothing.

I have Troy Lee Designs Lopes Knee Guards, and they're awesome... but overkill for XC/lightweight trail riding. So I was looking for something more lightweight when I'm in casual mode (as given the opportunity I'll still take advantage of a nice jump or short descent).

So I decided to give the G-Forms a chance. Although many reviews say go up a size, I decided to stick to the sizing chart and go with small. I think the main consideration is what is your knee circumference vs. your calf circumference. If you have thick stocky legs, then go up a size, but if you're like me and have legs like a chicken, then the sizing chart is accurate. :)

I've used them once so far, and found them to be quite comfortable. Don't really notice them when riding, and they don't slip at all. As luck would have it, I did crash with them on this first run. There's this tricky spot that many friends have taken a spill, and I've done this technical single track before, but for some reason I went with my instincts vs. trusting in physics, and didn't go into this steep drop with a big tree root in front of it fast enough.

My knee did take a bit of a beating. The part where the rubber was covering the knee were fine, but you can see in the product picture that it's coverage area is limited. And any spot where there wasn't that rubber, I got bruised.

But that kind of maneuver is beyond what I would expect from these G-Forms. The rubber compound they use is quite interesting - it's like a reactive armor and is much thicker than what you'd expect from the pictures. I wouldn't be surprised if it could stop a bullet.

So overall I would recommend these if you're looking for minimalistic and lightweight protection for XC/casual trail riding. If you're going to go more aggressive, I would look into something that provides more coverage (e.g. Troy Lee KG5450's, Troy Lee Lopes knee guards, etc...).

These were the third pair of kneepads I've purchased. Tired of the hot, bulky, hard shells, I was looking forward to something smaller and was willing to trade off some of the impact protection I thought I might lose in favor of something more wearable. On my second ride I was climbing a rocky area and fell into a mountain laurel shrub. It was painful but I didn't realize anything was amiss until I got home two hours later and discovered the branch had punctured my pad. I pulled a quarter inch of foam out of my knee and had to go in for a tetanus shot and 3 stitches.

Since then I have healed up and still use them, albeit more cautiously. I wrote to the company because I was concerned that the puncture affected the integrity of the foam cell. I never heard from them. I also wonder how well the rubber around the foam will hold up as the pads get acquainted with the local rock gardens.

I've also washed them to get rid of the blood and have discovered a pin-sized hole in another cell. I can't say for certain that it was caused by another crash or the wash.

I still wear the pads because they are sooo light compared to my other pads, which are just dreadful in the summer heat. This is also my second season. I'm hoping I've graduated to a somewhat lighter pad. I would not recommend these pads for someone just starting out if there are a lot of rock gardens or random branches.

I may still buy these again if they last as long as my other pads did and they offer me decent protection on the rocks.

          Comments about G-Form Knee Pads:

I've been wearing these for a couple seasons now and they are holding up very well. I wear them in conjunction with the G-Form Elbow pads and they make a great, light-weight combination for the XC/AM riding I do.

I actually wear these on all of my rides both climbing and descending and have found them very comfortable. They don't slip or get too hot but provide awesome protection on the times I've needed it. After a recent ride, I took my bike to the shop to have some upgrades put on and totally forgot I even had them on while I waited for them to finish installing the parts.

I'll definitely purchase again when these wear out.

            Comments about G-Form Knee Pads:

Crashed pretty hard the day I got these and they worked pretty well. Definitely not a down hill pad but great for XC. They are small enough that I can put both the elbow pads and the knee pads inside my camelbak. THEY RUN VERY SMALL!!!! Im a pretty average sized guy and I almost always buy things in medium but the XL size knee pads are almost too small for me. Make sure you check the size chart and measure your knees and maybe even consider going up a size from there.

              G-Form: gear review
              By Soren McCarty

Have you ever wanted to learn that new trick in the Terrain Park or on the BMX Track, but were afraid you were going to bust yourself? Are you the kind of person that has dropped your phone or media player? Well I found a cool new product that will amaze you. It's called G-Form; G-Form is a company that makes soft foam that stiffens upon impact. They have figured out how to use this technology in athletic pads and protective cases for electronics.
The Cool thing about G-Form products are they are soft and do not restrict movement or motion. They are designed to fit easily under clothing. Perfect for leaning new tricks on the snowboard, bike, skis, skateboard or great if you want a little extra protecting. The best part is they harden on impact, cushioning the blow to the athlete. I wish I had these when I was growing up. Because of the sleek fit, people won't even notice that you are wearing protective pads you'll probably even forget yourself.
G-Form makes Elbow pads, Knee Pads, Shin Pads, Crash Shorts and a Compression Shirt. Well worth the money and surprisingly comfortable, perfect for any active lifestyle.

                  Comments about G-Form Knee Pads:

I bought these for a mtn bike trip to Sedona AZ. They are super light weight and don't take up a ton of luggage space. They performed as promised, absorbing mostly everything. They are great for light to medium duty, but wouldn't expect them to handle the big falls. The fit was astonishingly comfortable, as if there was nothing there until you needed them. Only critique is that one of the padded 'cells', along with some material ripped open on a 'skid' fall with knee dragging. This is expected - better the pad than my knee! They are still usable and dependable.

                  Comments about G-Form Knee Pads:

I saw another rider in my local area riding with knee and elbows on during a XC ride. I asked him about them and he liked them. So I thought I would give them a try, especially at the price Jenson is selling them for. They work well. The disposition of energy throughout the pad is cool. Draw back of my riding area is it is rocky (sharp rocks). Though these pads save the skin, they will shred some. I went on a freezing MTB ride not to long ago and forgot my leggings to keep warm. So I used these in place and the pads worked very well shielding the wind. My only "blah" about the pads is, when the top gripper slides down (not a lot) it naturally binds behind the knee. It would be a smart move on G-form to redesign the back of the knee with less material.
