I have used this tube with similar valve tears. However, the problem wasn't the tube. The cause of the problem was a bad batch of Kenda Nevagal tires that slipped on the rim until they would tear EVERY valve stem.

I purchased two of these Pyramid 29er Thorn Resistant Tube and installed on my 29er for a nice thorn resistant 4th of July weekend riding. I rode on Saturday, 3 July, within two miles on grass and road side riding, the back tire lost air. I thought it was a big thorn, upon close inspection, all sad on the road, the interface between the metal presta valve and rubber tube broke. The presta valve tore off! I replaced the rear tube with my back-up - SLIME SEAL SEALING TUBE 29" - and rode back home. The next day, 4th of July, we went trail riding. Thirty minutes into the ride. I was just getting into the ride and the scenery. We stopped for a nice photo-op, then, PSSSST, front tire flat. It was the other Pyramid broke on the same location! Unfortunately, I trusted the Pyramid so much that I only brought that one SLIME SELF SEALING TUBE spare I used the day before. I never thought the bond between the metal presta valve and the tire can be so weak. Yes this tire is thick and may be thorn resistant but since it had that valve/tire bondage defect I never got to find out how thorn resistant it was. Because of my experience, I will not buy this again with a presta valve. Right now I have the SLIME SELF SEALING TUBE 29" and hopefully I get to ride longer. Because of this, I am also researching tubeless setups.

I will never ever buy these tubes again!! The valve stem rips apart where it goes into the tube. For what ever reason these tubes can't take fast tight turns, that's how the 1st one blew & 2nd one was just going across a river bed.
