Had this stock on my FR bike. Not bad, durable and shifts decently. I'm impressed. Unfortunately I don't like the shifter ergonomics and you can't use this with Shimano shifters which I have preference for.

I run this derailleur on my commuter bike. It is Specialized mountain bike that gets me to and from school. I live in a Place where it snows a third of the year, and I still ride my bike through it. Because of all the salt and grime, I wind up going through a chain each winter. This derailleur has yet to show any signs of braking (It has been through two winters). As far as I am concerned, one cannot break this derailleur. If you need a derailleur that can take a beating, this is the one for you.
Also works pretty well when I am mountain Biking. Shifts well and precisely.

I've been riding X9 long cage rear derallieur for long time now, and in my previous bike. I never had to adjust it. Even after a crash where I completely bend the derallieur hanger; after replacing it it was still working perfect, that's more than I could ever say about others derallieurs.

I have used the X9 Derailleurs for some time now and they never fail me. I more recently bought a bike that came with a Shimano XT Shadow derailleur and I did not like it at all. The Sram feels better to me and seems to operate smoother as well.

Awesome product. Stays in tune and has been excellent. I prefer Sram X0 twist shifters and it works great with them.
Comments about Sram X.9 9 Speed Rear Derailleur 2011:
This derail shift pretty smooth if you tune it pretty good. at first it was locking its just because it wasnt tuned right, but after a good tuning it shifts like a butter...

I use the long cage x9 on my trance. I do trail/all mountain riding. I've used it for about a year now. The thing is starting to look pretty beat up but still shifts like a champ. It's taken a few crashes, a caught twig, leaves, mud, etc. Still going strong. If you're really worried about weight, get the XO. I think it's a little silly though unless you're doing some hardcore xc racing. Definitely recommend.

great deraillure. i really dont understamd why you would spend over $100 more on the x0 which is only a few grams lighter. only difference between the two is the x0 is carbon. sram blows shimano out of the water in my opinion.
