The battery discharge feature has been integrated into the electronics to optimize battery longevity. This feature should be activated when the light will not be used for an extended period. (i.e. more than a month) To activate mode simply hold down power button for 5 seconds after a full charge cycle. The LED will be active until the battery reaches the correct discharge level to which the LED will turn off and the unit will be safe for storage.

Comments about Knog Boomer USB Tail Light:
This is a great little light. Probably one of the most water-resistant lights you can get, since the battery is sealed into the body.
The flexible body is durable, but the strap seems a little fragile. Best part about a Knog is the lack of a need for a mounting bracket. The rubbery body also attracts dust, so to avoid that, get the translucent model.
The light gives you a nice green light indicator when the battery is low. The only problem is that the recharge time is rather long, around 3 hours. But the light doesn't need to be recharged until after 10 hours of use, which is nice.
The flashing modes are all kind of the same. I can't notice any particular pattern between them.
All in all, kind of an expensive little light, but very much worth the money! I recommend it.

My girlfriend and I have these on the seatposts of our roadbikes. I was suprised the first time I rode behind her at how bright it was! The size was not an issue, as there is plenty of room on our bikes for mounting. But someone with a short seatpost may have clearance issues as it is about 3" long. We are very happy with them and would not want another taillight on our bikes!
