I bought this bike several months ago, and I've put in a lot of time on it. For the price, it's the best deal going. It is heavy--mine weighs in at 22 lbs. with pedals--but that's expected for the price. The Tiagra components are not the greatest, but still great quality for the price. I've taken it on several 50 mile rides, a number of group rides, and a few sprint rides. It's not the fastest bike around, but it'll compare nicely with bikes five to ten times the price.

The bike arrived with a few problems: front derailleur out of adjustment, crankset was bent and front derailleur cable housing was kinked. I adjusted the derailleur but could never get rid of the chain rub that occured b/c of the bent crankset. I took the bike to a local diamondback dealer for warranty repair. FSA agreed to warranty the crankset but required me to pay for labor for removal/reinstall and shipping of the original to them. Diamondback agreed to pay for replacement housing, but not labor. In total my new bike would have cost another $100 in labor and shipping CRAZY! Ended up just ordering a new Tiagra crankset/chain (the chain it comes with is junk) and another cable. I did the work myself. Didn't save any $$ but I know it was done right and the Tiagra crank (hollowtech 2)is a step above FSA Vero.

Riding is ok, but I had to replace the saddle as it was very uncomfortable. Also the brake pads aren't the best and won't stop you in an emergency, so I upgraded those as well.

Now things are great, smooth quiet drivetrain, stopping power and crisp shifting. Even with all of these changes the bike was less expensive than most of the competition with similar components.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

I bought this bike during this summer. Beginner and didn't have the heart to spend too much money on a road bike. Found this on JensonUSA. I wasn't confident buying a bike online but placed the order anyway. I was concerned when the box arrived, thought I had to assemble it my self. It took me less than an hour to put it together.

Everything worked well on the first try. I had to adjust the front derailleur.

It's been 5 months and put in around 700 miles so far. So far I upgraded just the seat, couldn't bear it on long rides. I was thinking I will ride this for a season and then upgrade to 105. I don't think I will, really great ride.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

Nice purchase. Easy to set up and received in good shape. Took longer to remove the packaging than it took to assemble. Tuned up pretty well right out of the box. Flipped the stem, and adjusted the rear derailleur some, and it was set to go.

Rides nice too. I now realize how heavy my last bike was, and I am averaging at least 1 mph faster speeds on my usual routs.

Good value to get a Tiagra drivetrain at this price. Wish I did not have to swing the levers so far to shift, but I am coming from a bike with downtube shifters, so this may get easier with time.

Overall, very happy with the bike and would recommend this to others with a tight budget.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

This may not be the best bike in the world, but I'm convinced that it IS the best value right now. Tiagra components are just fine for any of us who aren't racing, and the price was easily half of what I would have paid for something similar at the LBS (in Hawaii).

You aren't going to find a better deal on a Tiagra level bike anywhere. Especially not one that comes with pedals. I'm tempted to buy a spare to leave in the box until ten years from now when this one is worn out.

Fast, comfortable, shifts smoothly. Everything came pretty well adjusted, and the final setup was a breeze.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

Great bike for the money! I am an avid mountain biker and I was looking for a fairly inexpensive road bike to ride on days when I don't feel like driving to the local trails. Podium 2 fits the bill very well, especially given the low price at JensonUSA. I did a lot of research before purchasing this bike, both online and at local stores and could not find any other bikes with this level of components at a comparable price level. The bike came pretty much fully assembled and tuned. All I need to do is tweak a little the front derailleur and true one of the wheels. The frame build quality is excellent, and the components seem to do the job very well. The tiagra shifters derailleurs are quite precise; maybe just a touch less crisp than 105 components, but the difference is very subtle. The seat is just fine and I don't think I will be replacing it very soon. Finally, the 2011 model came with clipless pedals, which was a very nice touch.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

This is my first road bike and I really like it as a good entry level starter. It has the Tiagra group set and for the most part everything works very well together. With the stock Shimano pedals that were included, the bike weighed about 22.6 lbs., but that is with 25C Gatorskins, instead of the Michelins.

The shimano 505 pedals that were included are bricks. They weigh a ton. I replaced them some magnesium flat pedals and I saved over half a pound in that alone. The seat is also super uncomfortable. I suppose these are personal tastes but thought I would put it out there.

Overall, I ride about 60 miles a week, and this suits me very well for now. At this price, it's almost too good too pass up.

Comments about Diamondback Podium 2 Road Bike '11:

Being completely new to road biking, I am very impressed with the overall construction, component package and ease of ride this bike has to offer. I don't have anything else to compare to, so this review may be slightly one sided. I bought this bike in August and have already put 100 miles on it. The advantage of being near the Jenson Corona store gave a great opportunity to test ride before I made the purchase. I look forward to the many miles of enjoyment I will get out of this bike.

My only con would be that living in and around hills and ascending climbs is somewhat difficult with a double crank and 9 spd cassette. I could definitely benefit from some lower gears, but that's probably because I could be in better shape. Only more excuse to get better at climbing.

I absolutely recommend this bike for anyone starting out and for the price Jenson has it for sale, why look anywhere else.

No problems at all, was VERY impressed with its looks for such a low price. It will allow lots of miles and fun without breaking the bank. Now, it's not a race bike you're going to win the Tour on...but you should know that by its price. The pedals were Shimano and you can remove the platform option with the turm of a hex wrench, but cool that it was there incase you want to spin in your running shoes.

The bike is well appointed with good components for this price range. I would like to have seen 10 speed gearing, but that's not a big loss at this price point. Wheels and brakes are probably the weak point on this bike, but both work well enough for most users.
