Comments about Sram Rival Brake Set:
These brakes are certainly nothing exotic, but they are nicely finished and provide very good power and modulation. They aren't quite as stiff as Force and Red, but they are a substantial and noticeable step up from the generic brakes that come stock on many mid-level road bikes. The included pads are solid and long-wearing, and are mounted in a standard shoe for easy replacement. The release cam provides ample space to extract a 25c tire if properly set up. My one qualm is that this cam is plastic, and I can imagine it getting snapped off at some point. Otherwise, these are a ruggedly-built, thoughtful if no-frills design at a very reasonable price.

Bought the pair hoping to use both, but found that because the pull is so short on these that they were not compatible with my frame and rear wheel combo. Tried removing a chain link to move the wheel up in the drop outs, no luck. Also had to swap the pads on the calipers to use what was set up for the rear as the front, because they wouldn't have mounted to the frame otherwise. The rear mounting hole would have had to be altered to make these compatible, so I got used to one quick!
