In perfect world you’d just be able to set your seat height at one position and have it be the be all end all height. Well, we live in reality and when you’re ripping through a switch back or relentlessly attacking a climb, you’re seat height is never right. The RockShox Reverb is here to help. The RockShox reverb allows you to infinitely adjust your seat height, this is super useful. Having a dropper post allows you to never have to get off your bike again to adjust your seat height before a climb or decent.

You may be asking “How does this all work?” well the answer is pretty simple. A remote is attached to either the left or right side. This lever controls the hydraulic actuation of the seat post. When you actuate the RockShox Reverb lever it allows the seatpost to move up, when you sit on your seat while actuating the lever you are able to make the seatpost go down. Pretty simple huh? We think so!

The RockShox Reverb is perfect for anyone who is tired of getting on their bike to adjust their seat height before a climb or decent. This is also a great upgrade to your rig. Versatility and functionality, that’s just a few words that be used to describe the Reverb seatpost by RockShox.

Only have the Reverb post for over a year & I love it! I would not go back to a fix post ever again. The 1 lb or so weight penalty to have a drop post is well worth it. The post came in a nice box packaging that displays the post & remote. Inside had everything you need to install and re-bleed the system. The user guide was short & simple but the additional usual languages made it a little thicker. The air valve is located at the bottom end of the post & setting the psi was easy. It only took me about 15 min to install the post & remote actuation, remount my saddle, & route the cable. Out the box, the post worked like a charm & didn't have to bleed the system unlike some user reviews.

For bikes like the new Enduro SLs, take note that it is strongly recommended to clamp on the lower post below the top cap when using a repair stand, so if you are securing the Reverb from being stolen with a bolt seat collar, it's extra work to get enough clearance for the clamp. You can always use a quick release seat collar & cable up your saddle. It is also not recommended to stand the bike on it's handlebars to prevent remote damage. There is also no setback model options for those shorter top tube bikes. Another good deatail, is the 125mm of infinite seat-height adjustment is a huge plus & it operates very smooth & quiet.

Since I was using an Avid Matchmaker for my brakes & shifter, and the way I have them setup, I had to use the standard brake clamp & move the shifter to the remote actuation. Even though a left-handed remote is available as a separate purchase, by default, the Reverb comes with a right handed remote & no left option during the order. I tried moving the remote to the left side & flip it over for more protection but the left shifter was in the way. The shifter mount can easily adjust to the desired position on the remote, however I wished they have the shift mount directly aligned straight with the remote clamp instead of flushed to the side making the shifter too close to the handle grip. Another thing is that if you need to loosen the remote clamp, the shifter has to be removed first to get access to the clamp bolt, however I do like the single bolt remote clamp that makes it easy to install on the handlebars without removing the grips.

Although it didn't come with instructions, shortening the hose & just re-bleeding the remote side was easy & fast. After double checking the desired hose length & making sure there is enough slack on both post & remote sides just in case you decided to change saddle heights, cutting the hose & reconnecting it to the barb on the remote was a breeze. It only took 3 cycles of the actuation to get the bubbles out & the bleeding port was easy to access. The bleed kit also came with a torx tool, extra barb o-rings, & suspension oil. I wouldn't recommend using the same kit to bleed your brakes unless you really clean it & not contaminate either one.

As for performance, the Reverb has not failed me so far. As soon as the remote actuation is activated, the post will easily drop with your weight & extend to the speed you set on the remote. I think the slap n tickle feature is a plus, I've been hurt before with other brands & it's not funny especially when you're in a technical section. The post does not extend when lifting the bike by it's saddle & it feels strong & sturdy. There is very minimal side to side play but feels solid & not noticeable while riding compared to other brands. The remote actuation also has a solid feel when pressing but yet easy with no resistance like most cable remotes. Also loved the dual-bolt micro-adjust saddle clamp, just like the Thompson post, it was very easy to get the right forward & saddle angle. The hose guide was a great idea to control hose movement & avoid cable rubs. Lastly, the seal, like all their forks & shocks, is easy to clean & keeps moisture & contaminants out.

    Just A Heads Up Everyone.........
Well I have a specialized Epic 29er and the hydraulic hose going from the seat to the handlebars is about 3 inches too short (5 inches to be safe)

I attempted to run it down from the seat threw the swing arm to link up with the other cables to bring it to the handle bars but like i said it was three inches too short to make the handle bars.

Every other attempt to route it had too much hose hanging everywhere or interfering with the crank.

I could have gotten it to work but zip ties and bad cable management is just not my thing..

I'm in the process of contacting SRAM for a longer hose i will update if they help me out if not its going to get returned :(

I will most likely give it 5 stars if it fits my bike the way i want.

Comments about Rockshox Reverb Seatpost 125mm 2012:

I've not had it long enough to comment on reliability but so far it's been one of the best mountain bike upgrades I've bought. The Reverb feels quality and I like how you can adjust the return speed and lock it in any position (unlike some of the alternatives). A must have for trail and all mountain riding. If I was to pick a negative it would be routing the cable so that it doesn't rub in the up or down position.

I was told by numerous riders that I would not go back to a static post, and after spending the cash... this thing is worth every penny. Best part is: those I dont pass on the way up, I shred past on the way down cause the seat is out of the way -easypeazy.

bought a 2012 thinking the bugs were sorted.
post came with no pressure in it.....pumped it up....would not hold air, contacted seller, returned under warranty for repair.
SRAM contats the seller and tells them they tried fixing it but it wont hold air and they do not know why. they have deemed it as defective. they offered me a 2013 post but I have to wait an extra 6 weeks (untop of the 4 weeks i waited for them to say its defective). I may opt to get my money back and buy another brand.
it has NEVER worked for me.....defective straight out of the box....
.......SRAM needs to reconsider this post and start some real engineering work on it.......

I'm considering getting a fixed post until Thomson launches their dropper post.

This just pain works. Nothing too fancy here, a solid psot which has turned out to be a game-changer for all mountain riding. DO yourself a favor and get one. Just about any shop should be able to help you out should you need it, but so far the Reverb has passed the test one one season's worth of abuse. No slop in the post and no bleeding issues.

Got one for my previous bike, loved how much it increases flexibility and u always got the seatpost where u need it. Wrong seatpost diameter for my new bike, thought I could live without it and just adjust the seatpost when I felt like it...no way, once experienced I do not want to go back again, got a new Reverb and will keep it this way from now on.

This is one of the best inventions for a mountain bike. If you ride trails with a lot of up hill and down hill then this is a must have item. I haven't had any problems with it been using it since april 2012. Its one of those items that you use frequently. And still keeps working

I've been using the Reverb for since June 2012. I'm the type that likes to tinker and upgrade just to try something new, and it is easily the best upgrade I've ever made. Being able to drop the seat for just a short rocky section, or for a trail with a lot of ups and downs makes a huge difference in the amount of confidence I have when attacking the trail. I have it on my singlepeed, and every bike I buy down the road will have one. It adds about a pound of weight, but to me it is totally worth it.
