Rocky Mountain Element 970 RSL BC Edition 29er Cross Country

Rocky Mountain Bicycles humbly began in the basement of a Vancouver British Columbia bike shop, in 1981. The employees first imported bikes to sell to their customers. Later, they began manufacturing and importing frames to their exact specifications. Rocky Mountain now produces mountain bikes, road bikes, and urban bicycles. The company has come quite a ways from their modest beginning; however, their core values have never wavered. Rocky Mountain Bicycles is just as sought after now as they were in 1981.

The Element is Rocky Mountain’s line of full suspension cross country bikes.  The Element line is known for having great value rolled into exceeding performance. Rocky Mountain developed an innovative linkage system called ABC Pivot. This linkage system is lighter and stiffer than traditional sealed cartridge bearings. This is a great advantage and increases performance by eliminating binding in the pivot.

The Rocky Mountain Element 970 RSL BC Edition is constructed from FORM C13 Carbon Fiber. FORM is Rocky Mountain’s process for crating high quality material. Carbon Fiber is super light and stiff. Attention to detail is crucial and Rocky Mountain has years of experience building high quality bikes. The 970 RSL also has a tapered headtube which increases stiffness and strength in the headtube.

Fox Racing Shox have been developing high performance and reliable shocks and suspension fork for years. So, it’s no wonder that Rocky Mountain chose the Fox 32 TALAS 120mm FIT CTD 29er fork for the 970 RSL BC Edition. TALAS stands for: Travel Adjust Linear Air Spring. This Travel adjusting linear air spring is a piece of beauty, you can adjust your travel by opening up the fork and removing the lowers. Once you do that you simply install a snap in a Fox Shox travel spacer. The FIT Damper is also a thing of beauty, using a bladder system to keep oil and air separate, the system is isolated and clean. The CTD stands for Climb, Trail, and Descend. These are settings on the fork and rear suspension. Climb acts similar to a lock out and makes the suspension stiffer so you can climb more efficiently. Trail is a happy medium between full open and full close. This allows you to comfortably ride the trail and take advantage of your suspension without losing and power transfer. Finally, Descend opens up your suspension allowing you to rapidly descend and tackle rocks and bumps in your way. Both the TALAS fork and Fox Float rear suspension take advantage of the CTD technology.

Each Rocky Mountain complete bike includes free professional assembly by Jenson USA. Prior to shipping your bike, we will completely build and tune it, just as we would for an in-store purchase. Then, we'll partially disassemble and carefully pack your bike for shipping. Please allow 3 business days for the bike build process prior to shipment.

When your bike arrives, it will take about 30 minutes to unpack and perform basic re-assembly tasks (such as installing the front wheel and seatpost) using common hand tools. Jenson USA has created a helpful video (below) to guide you through this process.
